This is basically to reassure them that the Digg-splinters are protected and won't we torn to bits when they split off. I suggested/offered that we would pact with them for protection; if we did agree to that it would speed up the process--they will go ahead as soon as we get back to them with a positive reply.

If the splits are legit, I'm all for it. I think its the least we could do to help assuage their fears that they'd become targets for the server. In time, as they distance themselves from the old Digg name, and what it means to people on this server, people will move on to other things, and they'll likely only garner attention they bring on themselves at that point.

I told him the current result; he'll start setting things up, ready for the go-ahead when I tell him the final result.

I can't see any of us objecting helping them split.

I told him the current result; he'll start setting things up, ready for the go-ahead when I tell him the final result. I presume you mean Phil299? He seemed pretty keen on the idea of splitting once we mentioned possibly pacting with the split-off(s?) (and the implications that would have for Pantheon too). For those who don't know, which will be most of you, this is one of the mails I sent phil299 regarding splitting-down: I really ought to start using restructuring rather than 'split-up' since it doesn't sound as negative. The spreadsheet is just something I spent about an hour coming up with yesterday. With some luck we'll be seeing all this in use sooner rather than later - I'm not sure I'll hold my breath on that quite yet though.

you know...it'd be a lot better for the rest of us if Digg DIDN'T split based on ocean location. They'll be strong concentrations in whatever ocean you tried to fight them in, instead of more spread out like most alliances. Similar to E|M. heh, not saying we'll be fighting them anytime soon, just an observation for the future....

OK, I think 12:0 with 1 abstain is clear enough to close this poll.

Just out of interest, why the 'no' votes? I can only assume that there would be no interest in Digg splitting, and any fighting would purely be to annihilate them?

That's right. I think that they recently have become so arrogant, and so condescending towards us, that I consider them scum that were nice towards us when they had use for us, but now they don't need us and consequently treat us as dirt. I can't stand that kind of people, and strongly resent them these days.

IMO DIGG splitting is just a PR exercise. They can tell us they won't use the same tools/database/forum., but we have no way of being sure until the next war involving a DIGG faction.
I agree also with Natmus that they have become very arrogant and told us what we wanted to hear, first to stand by them against the aggression of E|S, then to stay out of the Pantheon war.
When we went to war with ORC (1st Time) they piped up with a leave them alone or else statement, siding with a non-pacted alliance over a pacted one.
The fact we would have wiped the floor with ORC is irrelevant. Then they took in runners and told us hands off.
'This is friends with us when it suits them'
I don't want to see DIGG annihilated, but I have very little desire to be 'friends' again.
Equally if Pantheon attacked these alliances that split off then I would equally want to drop any association with them also
