Now, isn't this Lord of Smiles' shield or what? Merda! That is HORRIBLE! I mean it would be perfect to Smiles! Just AWFUL! Great work! Do some old styled flat-palette ones too with only few colours.

Perun,
What are the parameters for the lighting effect you are using? I need to pretty up my shield, and yours look excellent.

To be honest, all these five shields are borrowed from Dungeon Siege. I was testing shield shapes. JY sounded sad/angry with my proposition, so I'll wait until he gives me a go.
But, as for a lighting effect, I guess that plain old Lighting filter in Photoshop would do the trick (Filter->Render->Lighting Effects)! Or a radial gradient if you want one side to go into shadow (Gradient Tool, Linear/Radial Gradient, Transparent to foreground/background). Or use alpha channel with partial transparency to achieve it. Possibilities are endless.

Something else this is... Very old. I used to know how to render myself, but i cant use pov-ray anymore. I've known so much and most of it is allready gone...

I cannot make myself a shield due to technical incapacity. Any chance of some help?
Please?
I would include a bribe here but fear I am poor and can only give gratitude and honour.

Thanks Perun.
Just tried something out that worked ok.
Added a transparent layer with a left to right gradient, 33% opacity and a steel texture.
Gave my shield a nice curvature. I'll play around a bit more and emboss the eagle and eye and give it a nice edge.

What I meant to say was, what totally cosmic shields and art!
I just assume that because I don't really know anything and you do, that churning out that kind of quality work is just routine, everyday stuff.
But then I look at it again, and even I can see that it's clearly not - that is a good graphic.
Please forgive me. I type before I think.
