"A basic universal calculator" that would calculate costs and build times for units and building and isles and fleets... I could do it

It would be good especially from a planning point of view if we could have an option whereby you choose the opponent of a war, and then the database returns 2 lists of 5 for each isle of the opposing side. The 1st list would show you the closest 5 isles on our side(perhaps we could include allied alliances with this). The 2nd list would show you the isles with the largest number of army units in the nearest 10 isles (obviously this would require us to ensure that all quartet members enter their fleet data regularly or at least when a war appears to be on the horizon There could be a number of variables that could be added to this - return only members within certain oceans
- return members from just corleth, just morkin or combinations of the Quartet
- return certain members of the quartet
- identify isle with defence greater than x number of SP's or ST's
I think this would be good for planning wargames also There may be more that could be added to this to make it even more effective

could the map islands have clickable links to that islands spy report page? You can look on the map and see your enemies closest island and just click that island to bring up any spy reports available to that island.

You can look on the map and see your enemies closest island and just click that island to bring up any spy reports available to that island. That would be done far best with flash. Something like the action=Worldmap_flash that amends the data from xml. Now if someone would do the flash part i could provide all kinds of xml data for it.

How about a tool that generates guesstimates of an isles strenght based on old spy reports?
a) Defences This is the easy one. You would assume that they would build spear constantly (this is both the worst case scenario and the likeliest scenario) and the tool would tell you this figure exactly.
If it could provide figures based on the colo foundation date that could be useful too, altho not as easy.
2) Offence.
This is obviously trickier. You would need to tell the database what isles purpose is and how many isle are feeding it.
Obviously, being able to assess an enemies strenght without spying would be most useful in the run up to wars and in cases where time is of the essence.
The question is, would it be accurate enough?

I'd love a graphical output of my army over time, something like a line chart. I tried to do it but I'm too busy at the moment, just started my own company :S

Have you picked a winner yet, I see new tools that have been created along the lines of some of our ideas

I think Clause wins (10 karma) and Kae (5 karma) comes second place.
But any good idea in the future will be rewarded.

Another idea: A "claims" system on the database, rather than using the forums.
The ability to punch in the coords your going for, and rapidly check an isle for claims by others. Can help prevent over-colonization, without the hassle of reading through 7-8 pages of forums.

Amen to that Clause, we did have it on the old database, so to add it to the new would be ideal.
@ Shendemiar,
In terms of the war tools plan I had, do you think it would be worthwhile/possible
Also on the fleet strengths page could we have the rank 1 value added for comparison (not the name just the number)
Can we get an ocean statistics that allows us to evaluate an ocean by domination E.G. isle domination in O1 morkin 50% 50 isles, Digg 30% 30 isle, Pantheon 10%, other 10% etc

Reserving /isle notes has been making comeback, but its not very enjoyable task so i have been postponing it for weeks.
What you described about the lists of closeby enemy isles already exists as "Isles distances & Fleets" but only admins see other than own isles. That basicly covers the 1st and 2nd, as there is also filter available in the admin mode.
And there is extensive stats for alliances, oceanwide or worldwide.

Hmm while its a good idea to have claims, most of the KoM members won't be able to see it.

I have an ' Isles & Garrison option', but that only shows our distances from one isle, I was looking for more of something along the lines that we choose an alliance and an ocean, it then lists each enemy isle, with the nearest 5 isles of ours and the 5 biggest LWS fleets we have nearby e.g. DIGG O1 {1:01:01} | Nearest | distance | | largest fleet | Size(LWS) | 1:##:## | Warliter | 4.1 Nm | 1:##:## | Shendemiar | 1000 |

I can do that but its not top priority as the same can be done with other means.
