Yeah, I voted "yes" for the same reason.

It'd be nice. Against the rules? Maybe. But I'm pretty sure a good amount of top 20 alliances have them.

I think colotool would be a better desciption, I'm this he means one that merely outputs a list of, probably, unruled isles.

Can we get a definition on "auto mapreader"? A script that logs into the game as someone and reads the game map each night, stores the info for all kinds of later usage.

I've got this going using n00b's old scripts btw....its what I used to gather the TRANSFERS & TAKEOVER charts during the war....haven't been using the data much recently, but its there if needed.
The only downside with this version is it takes awhile to run. I haven't looked at optimizing it just yet. Though it also is a little easier on the server, which is good.

I want more votes as such system would implicate us all.

I'm still torn...
On one hand, Morkin is this City on the Hill, morally pure and righteous in all labors. We could pollute that and sully the hard-earned reputation. I've always been on the impression that Morkin is "better than that" on many of these gray-area issues.
On the other hand, Pantheon and DIGG both use the same tools - as does Iliad and Phoenix. Even alliances as small as DUGG have extensive tools that do very similar things. So who would stand to judge when their hands are just as dirty?
I'll abstain - not because I am apathetic, but because I am torn.

In my books, reading the map would be in the the lightly gray side of "these gray-area issues". Technically only the account used to read the map would be in conflict of the rules but of course morally we all would be "in the gray area".
However, I think it would be a lot better to do all of this "gray area" stuff controlled and centralized than sub-contracting it or everyone by themselves with varying level of skill and security.

If we have the ability to why not.
It isn't frowned upon to have such tools. How else does every rulerless isle have 10 inbound attacks. Not by pure chance of spotting it thats for sure.
Plus stevenhills runs incredibly slow at peak times so would be nice to have an exclusive version.

I've always been on the impression that Morkin is "better than that" on many of these gray-area issues. Its not just all bad. Tool is just the extent of its user. Morkin & co. could use it spot multies, set automaticly to scan similarities in ruler and islenames, alert in case of unnatural amount of new accounts per day, compare ocean stats to average patterns to identify irregularities and so on.
