I never looked at the map source until I read this post. The whole server would only require around 320 hits to get all the islands. From that you can generate the whole data base can't you? I probably generate 300+ hits per night all by myself. I want a decent colo tool. We have done very well without one but its time we stepped it up a notch.

Personally, I'm truly not pushed, but then I'm a tiny player in pretty stable neighbourhood and I have little use for it.
I have no objections tho- the IK community is largely self regulating and most alliances have decided this is the right side of OK.
I say go for it.

In the absence of Sven regulating what goes on in ik.com, it means that the players determine what is/isn't acceptable.
Therefore, assuming every other major alliance does it, it is more-or-less part of the game. Sven if he was smart should do what Travian does, which is a daily data dump that you can download and run into your mapping tool.

OK the way I see it is this. - All the major alliances have some type of maping, data collecting tool.
- All alliances that can will have some sort of tool.
- In the current game situ, we are facing colo disputes left right and center.
- We haven't settled on a difinitive set of rules to abide for colo disputes.
- We may have the moral high ground by not having one, but we must consider the following.
Sooner or later we are going to clash with a top 5 alliance (probably over colo disputes). The problem is if they have the tool they can expand quicker than us and because we don't aren't we just limiting our ability to expand rather than gaining an advantage over everyone else? In pure terms of the rules it creates hits to the database, but as Sven is our own personal non-existant deity(anyone catch the reference ) we self regulate, multis get taken down by the masses, scripters too, at least when there is reasonable evidence. This being the case we also interprete the rules, so is this just not another interpretation of the ' Programs that automate processes in the game, change the surface of the game or generate an exorbitant number of hits are strictly forbidden on all pages of the INSELKAMPF website'rule. Based on AeroS 320 hits to complete dump thats only an extra 3 hits per member per day or 4 if you don't count KOM, I wouldn't exactly call that exorbitant. In conclusion I think we should have it. This is and always has been a democratic alliance where you are free to speak out against any suggestion without fear of retribution or degradation, so lets hear what you have to say. Don't forget your alliance is what you make it

Volker (l3x-x) said they all have 'colo-tools' on all servers, and Sven tolerates them. I have the suspicion that what he means is a semi-automatic interface, which combines a lot of scripting with a bit of manual input. How else can you keep track of 300 islands?
What we're doing isn't going anywhere near that. In those tools you can apparently reserve isles etc. Some guy at the beginning of the year offered me the use of a tool he wrote in exchange for payment, which I declined.

I can't see anything happening surpassing those 18 votes.
Keep this voting result behind closed doors; Morkin/Luxor eyes only.
