I have made Inyati and Dalfiatach Morkin admins. If anybody else wants a new hat, let me know. I have sent a message to all DIGG admins to see who is online. The minute I get a response from one of them, I will inform him that we are dropping the pact, and give the reason for doing so. I'm a Fascist Dictator you know... Anyway this is the right time to break ties. No one will attack us. The missive will be sent to them and we'll post our breakup in the IK Forum as well.

If we break the Pact, I recommend we do it publicly, and cite Phil's belittling and "pulling rank". It would be a clear signal to Pantheon that we are, indeed neutral and isolationist in the next Great War (perhaps we do join, but at least we won't be the pawns or predictably in the pocket of either side). It would also lead to some friction within DIGG Staff, which could actually put some heat on Phil for a diplomatic blunder. The key would be to avoid phrasing it in a way that creates a "Rally Around the Flag" for Phil. We need to express "great disappointment", feel "extremely belittled by a friend", express "it unfortunately affirms that some DIGG leaders merely see us as children rather than partners", and say that "it is regrettable, because when DIGG had their Darkest Hour, Morkin was there for them, sustaining heavy losses and inflicting heavy attacks in the old oceans, and we would have done the same again" (a nice little reminder that we were the only Pact mate to do any serious degree of fighting, and have been there when it has mattered). For those who feel animosity towards Phil, this would be the best way to undermine his leadership of DIGG. I think you've pretty much written that communique right there, but I've put some meat on the bones and come up with this, feel free to comment, criticise and improve it:

PROPOSED LANGUAGE: It is a regrettable event to part ways with friends, even if only in a mere free online game. Morkin has held a special place in their hearts for DIGG that dates back to DIGG inception. We remember fondly extending our protection to them in their formative months, and watching proudly as they have come to emerge as a legitimate, competent, and virtuous alliance. We were proud to see them perform well in the Great War, eager to come to their aid when it seemed every alliance in the Top 10 was taking turns attacking them. We lost many fleets in vicious old-ocean fighting, but we were privileged to show our DIGG friends that our respect for the relationship was more important than mere warships. However, it has come to pass that Morkin must severe the Pact with DIGG. This is done with a heavy heart and hopes that our longstanding bond will neither be forgotten nor lamented. Recent events have demonstrated that DIGG senior leadership, unfortunately, does not reciprocate our relationship as equals. Being told that DIGG Admins were "pulling rank" and talking down to us as a father would scold a child is simply not the way equals conduct business, and this has been a slap in the face that forces us to reconsider the nature of our relationship. We bid DIGG only the finest continued success in the future, and aside from some regrettable insults that were made leading to this impasse, hope that DIGG will remember who was there for them in their Darkest Hour, and who now sits quietly, reclusively, in the corners of this server and wishes them only the best of fortunes. EDIT: Just saw yours, David. Looks like we basically said the same thing. "Great minds...", as they say

Clauses version is better than mine.
;D
Do we need to mention that we're going to keep a peace treaty with them or is that superfluous?

Oh, those things are so wordy, so presumptious. I have a couple of DIGG admins online now, and I'll just wing it with them

I had written the following, I know I embellished the recent vote, but I think it sounds good.

Best thing is (with Claus's approval) to add to his version, if at all there is any need. All three say the same thing, and infact I too was drafting one that started in the same manner...so we're all sincronised.

What ultimatum from Digg we are talking about?
If that was scoots message i and few others got then its not an ultimatum but the poor guy is actually trying to help us. We must not make him look like the final scapegoat for the pactdropping.
Can someope post the ultimatum here?

HA! That's what I get for drafting something up on short notice, and having just climbed out of bed!
But yes, feel free to modify/edit/add/subtract/butcher/et al the draft I posted.

The ultimatum has to be an official letter, and not one optained via black ops (of course).

I believe the "ultimatum" is referring to phil's IGM wherein he stated that if this thing wasn't settled, he would take it to DIGG Staff...
