I seem to remember someone saying they had the ability to produce cats, please post here if it was you, or if you now have the abililty anyway.
I'm thinking it might be worth the alliance as a whole sending some resources for the next few days until we can all produce cats, to a nominated player (or two) to produce cats for use by the alliance.
Thoughts?

I'm able. Currently I only have 2, and two more in queue, but I expect that to rise sharply when I get my resources pipeline from my colonies going.

I have the ability to research them but havn't started yet : )
I've got 23k gold and waiting am waiting for another colo ship, then I'll be doing the research, that should take about 6-7 days depending on availability of resources and length of time they take to research.
One of my isles has just got to the point where I only really need to feed it stone and not the more essential gold/lumber.

No thanks, unfortunately it is Gold and Lumber that I am in need of. Farming should enable me to build the CS in about 24hours.

I have 8 cats now that could be loaned to Corleth if necessary. I have an unowned island right beside me (11 mins away!) though, so I'm going for a colony ship next rather than more cats right now. Once the colony is secure I'll be churning out cats on my main. 2 isles is enough for me.

Once built up isles take little effort to maintain, I found that 10 could be managed quite easily with little activity. Anymore and you might find yourself subject to other lures (posting on alliance board more, getting into diplomatic tangles with others players) requiring more activity. Or at least thats the way I see it, I could run my IKUK account with as little checking as 10mins every two days if I weren't bothered about inter-player/alliance things.

True I suppose, I've always managed to be admin of some large alliance or another so have never been 'picked on'. I think I've only been spied three times in the whole time I've been playing (and even then one of those was accidental).

I didn't have a colony at all on co.uk! I just built up fleets between wars and then usually spent them in spectacularly insane suicide strikes, like the time I levelled one of Matt's isles in the E~L war The whole "Morkin are nuts, they'll gladly die for one another" legend was always one of the main things that kept us relatively safe, and I'm more than happy to play the "Morkin suicide bomber" role if it keeps that impression of us alive. So I don't really need more than 2 or 3 isles when all I'll be doing is building fleets to send crashing on somebody's main isle in wars ;D

Well, I was the original "Bully magnet" for IK.co.uk, Stomer and Slayer to name just two. I think that some of the early alliance wars Morkin got involved in were precipitated by attacks on me too. But I know why, I overextended myself, not making that mistake on .com!

I found being an underdog quite challenging to play, actually. There was a nerve to the game when we knew that so many other alliances could wipe us out if we didn't to our utmost to play as smart as absolutely possible, under the rules we set ourselves. Also, I think we (the .uk Morkin) would have been bored if everybody left us alone, as we don't play aggresive ourselves. Which could become a problem here on .com in some time. If nobody attacks us, how can we get into wars? And without wars, what's the point of this game? I don't know what kind of wars you FoM people have fought, but the suicidal wars Morkin have been through, where we were prepared to lose all, and expected to, were the best bits in the game. It's like just letting go and sending all your fleets out is such a release... ... I guess you would have to be there

To add excitement to the game you could always, at a later stage of course, implement surgical strikes to take over areas of oceans. That would annoy enough people to cause a small war or two.

If we could get a willing suicider in every ocean they could be the IK version of the nuclear options. I'd be up for it. Would it work tho?

That sounds like a pretty good strategy. Every extra isle you have will be like another suicide bomb though.
Also, while colonies are still plentiful, they offer a major resources boost in the long term for not much effort.
