Anyway; about me... I'm currently studying Mathematics with Economics at University. I live 'near' Leeds both termtime and not termtime. Apart from just generally larking around I also enjoy dabbling at various sports (added; a stopped my sports hehe). I'm just a fairly standard nineteen year old guy.
In the past I was quite a gamer but in more recent years/months I have cut back on time spent playing them. The two current games I playi are IK and Dungeon Keeper (the original). Activities and lectures prevent me from spending too long on a single game at a time.

I've got the original and it's expansion Deeper Dungeons currently installed... the only problem is the low resolution graphics (especially stretched so far on this monitor) but despite that its still an awesome game! I considered naming my isles after the level names... they start off all innocent then after #30 you get the Deeper Dungeons. These latter ones sound more sinister; Morkador, Korros Tor, Belbata etc. Alas I've gone with a different theme

I just thought I'd bring this over from Natmus' thread.... If you liked Orson Scott Card's "Ender's Game", I will recommend "Ender's Shadow" and the other Shadow books. At least you should try "Speaker for the Dead" as well, if you like that, "Xenocide" and "Children of the Mind" can be recommended.
Of Dan Simmons, have you read Hyperion / Fall of Hyperion / Endymion / Rise of Endymion?

Yeah I read those first, my personal favourite part of the series were the planet hopping in one of the last two books (was it the last?). The concept behind the Shrike still confuses me even now, not just its purpose but also its origin. Throughout the book I'm sure its story of creation changes slightly, or perhaps it just becomes clearer with more information to piece together the jigsaw.
Added: Have you ever read Alastair Reynolds books? I personally rank them higher than Dan Simmons novels.

No, haven't read those. I have heard them recommended before, so I guess I should. Which one should I start with, in your opinion?

No, haven't read those. I have heard them recommended before, so I guess I should. Which one should I start with, in your opinion? Some of them (my favourites) are part of the same world , but at slightly different times. Apparently the order they go in is this; Revelation Space. Chasm City. Redemption Ark. Absolution Gap. Diamond Dogs and Turquoise Days are two short novellas also set in the same universe are not really order-dependant, just don't read first^ His two newest novels aren't actually part of the same universe although apparently his next will be. I see you've found your way in here, Arual. ;D Hi, I find my way everywhere ;D
