By extraordinary luck, I happened upon a non-alligned lord and a fairy in the same spot. Should that be allowed, or should the fairy positioning algorithm check for no lords in a radius of, say, at least two squares?

I've deliberately left the fairy and animal positioning free of checks, for speed. Actually, it does check for terrain type based on xeno race, but it's also possible to have horses and wolves in the same square.
Not very realistic but hopefully not too much of an issue either.

Oh there you go again, Mr smart-arse! Always someone there to catch me out when I'm blagging. Humph. OK, well, in the LOM scenario the probability of it happening was almost zero, since only Huntsman starts in a forest square (is that right?), so I never bothered. But in Sun's End I grant you that Oberon will be playing with fairies quite often. On the to do. Honestly, sometimes I wonder why I bother getting out of bed, grumble, grumble, harumph, bah humbug!

A faerie with Oberon is useful. When you need 5 hours to recruit him, being able to reset dawn is very helpful.
