Just to let you all know that I have been exceedingly busy at work, and have had to work quite a few evenings/nights recently. As such MU development has stalled.
However, progress is being made. Several changes are fully implemented in the development version, including suggestions from the testing team and some bug fixes.
The big change, alliances, is taking shape nicely, though there are some issues outstanding and LOTS of testing required before I can even contemplate putting it up on the live server. I'm not sure when this will be as I simply don't have the time to commit to a large scale MU-fest at the moment.
Hopefully sometime within the next 3 weeks, but it's all up in the air.

OK, moving more slowly than anticipated, but at present I have implemented 11 changes (one completely frivolous which may get taken out later - works well in text adventures but seems ungainly in LoM) and 3 bug fixes.
I have another 18 items on my todo list, one of which is completing the stalled alliance code (gulp).
So as I said on the Yahoo post, no promises any more on delivery dates, but just so that you know that progress is being made.

Progress continues to be slow, but at least it's progress and not going backwards.
Still no date to aim for as work has taken over my life at the moment, but whenever I get the odd 1/2 hour free (hardly ever), something gets done or at least continued.
The next release really will be a major one, of that you can be sure...

A few big leaps forward in the development of the new release, which I have decided to call 0.2 to save me having to refer to it as "the next release" all the time".
I *think* that I will have implemented all changes by the end of the week after next. However, I am then on holiday for a fortnight, so if I were to release 0.2 then I would not be able to fix any bugs during that time.
So, I shall release 0.2 at the start of July, with a view to going public at the end of the month or start of September.
Basically this means that you have plenty of time to play your league games.

Here is a screenshot of the upcoming 0.2 release. It's of the main view, and don't bother asking to see the pages off the new buttons - they are going to remain under wraps for now www.westhaven.uklinux.net/vmidnight/screenshots/beta02-screenshot-3.pngPlease comment on the new look in the Midnight/MU General, Beta 0.2 thread. The look is not set in stone, but I personally like it much more than the current one. The "End Turn" button is blue-ish as this is the colour that buttons turn to when hovered over. This works in Firefox but I can't quite get it to do so in IE. Chris is checking it out for me.

Progress report:
New features and changes: 34 (ranging from new scenarios and alliances at one end down to new text, cosmetic changes)
Bug fixes: 13
Outstanding changes and fixes: 17 (mostly smallish, though one could still prove a major bugger)
Out by Sunday? Yeah right!
