Well, I started somewhere quite removed from any starting position I encountered so far. I wasn't very happy about it, but from the way things look at the moment, while nothing to brag about, it might still proove to be competitive.

Me Why, do you have a guilty conscience? No. He who killed Lord Dawn will be made to suffer. He might have had a sissy name, but he'll be avenged nevertheless, since he did a darned good job sneaking recruits from under Matija's nose. I make that three he got to a day before Matija's goons got there, but unarmed though he was he got jumped by two - that's two - armies and slaughtered.

Well, it usually takes two to make a certain kill. But it wouldn't have happened if Rorath hadn't attacked Mitharg, and I had to send Torkren to rescue. There, it's all your own fault.

Mitharg could have gotten away easily, and Shimeril was just around the corner with his big cavalry. Nah, it was just pure viciousness and bloodlust, and they'll pay for it, mark my word. And after I spared Rorthron's life too!

To whom it may concern:
One of the dear pets of High King Natmus the Dark Avenger has been cruelly slain by Lord Xajorkith without any apparent cause or provocation. As this consitutes a clear act of unjust aggresion, the forces of High King Natmus the Dark Avenger will now take measures to apprehend the criminal Lord Xajorkith and his soldiers, and also their allies and associates for good measure.
High King Natmus the Dark Avenger regrets taking these drastic measures, as he felt he had a good relationship with his neighbors Matija and Celebaglar after certain minor disagrements in the initial phase of these troubled times.
However, he now fears that the growing spire of goodwill has been utterly and irrevocably crushed under the iron foot of Lord Xajorkith.
Lord Xajorkith and, guilty by association, his allies will have brought it upon themselves. They, not High King Natmus, wished it so.

High King Natmus knows the protocols. Visitors to the lands of Celebaglar the Hunted must declare themselves and their intentions, specially in times of war.
Lord Xajorkith was on patrol with the orders to remove anyone who might aid the cause of the pretender Matija the Unclean, whose ravenous hordes have taken control of nearby lands. Finding a dangerous creature within his patrol range, he justly ensured the safety of ordinary travellers by eliminating it. Had King Natmus' reptillian pet-cum-spy declared itself and its intentions, no harm would have come to it.
Lord Celebaglar offers his sincere apologies for the unfortunate demise of the dragon Xuratoth. However, if High King Natmus wants to use this incursion as a pretext for an invasion, so be it. His bones will quite happily keep company with those of the Unclean.

So I'm to be the kingmaker in this one, eh?
Just let me find a coin...

I thought I was the kingmaker here, and Xajorkith's alliance had lost my toss by killing my pet, which was very dear to me.
I think somebody is having a good laugh down at Shimeril. I can hear the laughter all across the Plains of Blood.

I can hear the laughter all across the Plains of Blood. Perhaps, perhaps not. Xuratoth's shade is not alone, as there really were spies in the area. It seems Matija has decided that his spy saw enough, as I can see his hordes approaching over the Plains of Iserath. So, the question is: do I stay and fight Matija, or do I run and take on your forces heading my way further north. Whichever one gets not to fight me will win.

Very nicely put, Mads. ;D My forces are the feeblest in this game, but they might concievably be strong enough to incapaciate any attacker to such a degree that he would then succumb under attack of the other 'kingmaker'.

So all three of us are kingmakers? I had a feeling, as I wrote in my letter of intent to Celebaglar, that we all were settling into our current positions and staying there. Bill, killing my pet can prove to be compared to that killing in Sarajevo in 1914

Aha! Lord Xajorkith is cowardly hiding in the citadel of Dawn.
Don't let him move, there will be forces there to take him into custody in a few turns.
