It may be worth pointing out that a benefit of our policy is, collectively, only 70k gold is spent colonizing an island, but according to theirs, 105k 140k gold is spent colonizing an island. EDIT: 1 initial colonization, 1 over-colonization, 1 retaking colonization, and 1 compensation colonyship. In theory yes, in reality you could have an infinite number of colo attempts hitting so close together than the main never has time to get built up. Although that's pretty unlikely and generally what Claus says is correct. If people followed our colonisation etiquette and didn't send cats to 1 pointers, things would be much easier when new islands pop up. The travel times are getting so much longer and new islands so scarce that DIGGs colonisation etiquette is inefficient.

It is pretty much the main reason I prefer our policy. DIGG policy is such a ressource sink.
