You could be nice and give him half the price of a coly ship. That's what I usually do if they aren't jerks about it.

I think that this WestChi guy wants to keep his precious isle even though he has 50 others. Seems like he is being a Ceffo! about it...

Seeing as conkeror is the smaller player in this case, I don't think he should be paying any sort of compensation and should keep the isle.
If it was the other way around and cokeror was a colowhore, then maybe half the ship would be alright.

I had the exact same idea before creating this thread so i felt it was appropriate. My way of seeing it is that I am going to buy peace by sending half of his colo instead of him just loosing it completely. That way, we are both halfway on each other alliance policy. And it would buy me the peace of mind of not having a bigger player just waiting for the first occasion to flatten me. Let's see if he agrees.

Well, they're your resources...I'm just not really DIGG tolerant, but thats another topic. From my perspective, while paying compensation is nice and up to the player, I think it only inflates DIGGs ego and encourages them to enforce their crazy colo policy. Additionally, seeing your size and the size of the "foe," you'll be losing more than he is. But thats just me, and you're free to repay whatever you wish.

Allright, thanks for your support as well Mr. Noob. Well yeah ... You are right Sol. But oh well, the mail is sent. I offered him 4 cats. I am fed up of building colos and want to hit 20 islands with as few hassles as possible before o52 is claimed, i thought 4 cats aint all that bad hehe. Its my first time under these policies. I will enforce them better next time

Morkin acknowledges a valid claim on an island to whoever builds main house to lv 2 (plants the flag), and not to who gets there first, or who does the most clearing (perentsis on this last matter, as you are free to strike a diferent compensation deal, which could include in given the island back if substantiated by clearing attack reports).
Anyother way of claiming an island, like posting on your personal profile, saying you posted something in a forum only accessed by some individuals, or you told your admins, house cat and canary, etc., is ridiculous, and therefore does not represent a valid claim (in Morkins eyes).
A word of advice: saying that our policy is betterthan others wont open up anyones mind. Everyone thinks their policy is the best.
We try to keep to the first principal of ownership, and then work in dealing with the matter diplomaticly.

I replyied this :
WestChi 9 hours ago RE: RE: RE: RE: Hey I appreciate your offer and I understand your point of view. We are in a situation where we both deserve the island from our alliances point of view. And we both seem to like its emplacement too.
I have to stick to my alliances policies. I am contacting my diplomats, lets keep it at this for tonight, I will get back to you tomorrow. The island wont vanish anyways.
But you can see it this way. This policy protects you from people sending 50 coloships and log off, log back 2 days later and claim islands (exagerated but...). Its pretty simple too, no compensation hassles. Also, do know that if it happens to you what happened to me today with any member of the Morkin family, the island will happily be yours.
Then this :
WestChi 9 hours ago RE: RE: RE: RE: Hey Well actually ... before resorting to diplomats ... How about i reimburse you the half of your coloship ? I am willing to send you 4 cats which are a little over the half of a colo in terms of gold. Would save both of us a headache and I really wouldnt mind since you are pretty cool about this.

Then i received this :
WestChi 8 hours ago RE: RE: RE: RE: RE: Hey lets just leave it up to the diplomats
Then this :
DrMike 4 hours ago 52:23:10 Dispute Hi,
I have been told you overcolonised WestChi on the isle 52:23:10, he would like to retake the isle.
It is digg policy that unless clearing was done on the isle, the first person to colonise has rights.
Cheers DrMike

Tell him this
If you can colonise without catapults, you keep the island. NO questions asked. That's the Morkin way

I'll go out on a limb and post this here for now; please bear in mind though that it is not officially official. For now it is more of a guideline although I will stick to it and get stuck in diplomatically to follow it.

It may be worth pointing out that a benefit of our policy is, collectively, only 70k gold is spent colonizing an island, but according to theirs, 105k 140k gold is spent colonizing an island.
EDIT: 1 initial colonization, 1 over-colonization, 1 retaking colonization, and 1 compensation colonyship.
