15:11:15. Harmless 1-pt isle.
So I launch 3 colo's at it, timed 50 minutes apart.
The first one succeeds. Nice. I take a peek at the isle and start the MH.
A couple minutes later, I see two inbound colony ships. One from DIGG, one from .:DD:.
[expletive deleted]
So I cancel the MH upgrade. Can't make it in time anyways.
I wait precisely 2 minutes, then restart the MH upgrade.
The .:DD:. player fails.
The DIGG player succeeds. I lose the isle. [another expletive deleted].
But wait! The second colony ship!
SUCCESS!
Then, I go into the Main House, and the previous upgrade I started had precisely 5 seconds remaining until it was completed.
I not only prevented myself from bouncing, but ensured the MH would be upgraded seconds after reclaiming the isle, and ensuring it would remain in my hands.
This game is 20% pure and simple economic numbers. It is 80% "other stuff", like this. You do not (re)colonize your 80th isle by being a colo-Puttana!, but rather heeding the finer points of the game.
This concludes todays lesson in colonization ;D

*bows* indeed I've had 3 colonizations fail for the same island. Next time I guess I should send 10 ships...

Nice!
I just took the one 40 min from my main. There was a 27 minute follow up fleet from another island which I cancelled. I waited two minutes and then launched again from the first which can land 1 minute before the MH goes up. I'll cancel it in 30 minutes if there are no incomings.
EDIT: MH goes up in 30 minutes and there's my colo 29 minutes out. I wait a minute and then cancel it: Too easy.

I just launch 50 colo's all at once and collect whatever apples fall out of the trees.

Isn't there a list so we don't overcolo each other?

Is it possible to have another spreadsheet as we did for Operation Europa? Anyone got time?

Good work, but I should point out that if your second ship had failed, your third ship would have failed as well, since the main house would have been up for the DIGG player. It's a dilemma how to go about it. Personally I have solved it by not going after those isles at all, unless it's a very sure thing.

Correct. My third colo would have run into a lvl 2 MH.
However, it would have run into a lvl 2 MH regardless. Had my 2nd attempt failed, the owner (be it the DIGG or DD player) would have had ample time to upgrade it.
All I was able to do was ensure it remained down until just after my 2nd coloship landed.
Anyhow, I hope some of our younger players can take some tips from this tactic. It's not foolproof (you can end up spending additional colo's for islands), but if you're intent to take an isle and can afford the risk, it can help.
