4. Double-colonisations are entitled to the first person who colonised the island, with compensation due if no cats were used. Compensation reversed if cats were used to create the double-colo conflict, with the cat'er owing the cat'ee for the additional coloship they must spend on the isle. I'd like to see this as the first person to build the main house to lvl 2 or higher rather than the first person to colonise, but i may be in the minority. I agree with you 2k.

I agree. If you over-colo before they can build it up to 2, whether it be because they didn't upgrade right away, or you hit within the 45min needed to upgrade, you should keep the isle. I usually provide .5 comp to the original player, assuming they are "nice" about the situation, but thats just me.

If i get double coloed over a 1 point i just leave it and believe thats the luck of the draw ( same reversed). If they send catas with to a 1 pointer i tend to get colo ship compen and the isle

TEST CASE
Last night before going to bed I spotted an unruled island, 1pt. I launched a colo fleet (takes 6hrs+) and a spy ship, and then go to bed, expecting that somebody else takes the isle before me.
This morning I have a spy report on the unruled isle (8hrs ago) and a successful colo attempt (3hrs) ago. The report says 'Attack on rhinokiller'.
I did not use cats, just spears, and the isle had MH 1 and GM 1 (which was on the isle to begin with). Now of course the MH is level 2...
So, I get to keep the isle, and I won't have to pay compensation, is that correct? I might as a goodwill-gesture send some stuff, but I'm not obliged to.

Thats as clean as you can get in an over colonization case. I agree with your conclusion.

BTW, how long does it take to build MH to lv 2? As long as it takes to launch WMDs: 45 minutes, or was it 47?

I think its 47 minutes. But I agree with the test case. That is how I work out double colo attempts.

Same as everyone else said. Done cleanly without cats. You did nothing wrong, therefore don't owe anything. A kind gesture of resources is nice though. As long as they aren't @$$holes about it then I tend to give them half a coly ship.

So is this policy concrete?

I was wondering the same, cause I got to say I don't think I like it.
I think its a great way to eliminate grey areas but the fact is we are going to come of worse more often than not simply because we don't use sniping tactics most others use.

I like that policy and I don't see how it's wrong. All I see is people sending cats with their colo fleets, which I do think is wrong. Especially against 1-pointers.

To be honest I have only just seen this thread yesterday and I couldn't believe it. I'm with 2k and Tom_t_b_s. If all alliances took on this policy then it looks like it promotes sniping (even though I know thats not what it would be there for)

What do you mean by sniping? Trying to take an island that somebody else cleared?
Anybody remember those ridiculous idiots who demanded a 'finding fee'? Can't even remember who they were.
