Morkin rules They are still remembering us on the .uk server even. Somebody started reminicing about the old D_W (Stomer's alliance), mistakingly putting a picture of Ashimar's main fleet up as my own, but somehow they started taking about us again. It's so nice to see we have made an impact (far greater than our actual deeds and accomplishments, IMHO ): z13.invisionfree.com/Inselkampf_s1_forum/index.php?showtopic=2797

You have to wonder just why we seem to be so much better than the rest. The game isn't exactly complicated, but when it comes to war we seem to easily beat all comers. You'd think that after a couple of years now some of the Morkin Warfighting Magic would have rubbed off on other alliances... Is it the 20 years of training on the Plains of Blood?

... Is it the 20 years of training on the Plains of Blood? Nice one! ;D Its not the fighting. I think the real secret to the game is to actualy avoid fighting, by creating a good network of friends/contacts, inter alliance help, etc. Then as the alliance's prestige grows (not as its score grows), you get to pick the 'right' enemies, and fight at the most convinient time.

Well yeah, and we're very good at that "soft power". But we've also been bounced into a couple of wars against apparently overwhelming odds at very short notice, and we wiped the floor with our opponents every time...We always work well once we are in a war, but the preparation for a few wars has been less than brilliant, and even non-existant at times.
The more I think about it, the more LoM just might have something to do with it. We're all used to the endless waves of Foul pouring out of the Valethor Gap, and standing our ground regardless. In LoM, and over on MMU we've all learned the value in making sacrifices - throwing away an army to gain a tactical or strategic advantage elsewhere.
I don't think a lot of the IK world can cope with those two aspects of Morkins At War - the cheerful riding out against ridiculous odds, or the willingness to throw away hundreds of LWs for a tactical gain. When you add them to the levels of organisation and co-operation in Morkin, I think everyone else is terrified of us ;D

What I ment is, we cant give the idea that joining our family is walk in the park. You either want to join or you dont. Either way is good for us, but if you commit yourself to Morkin, then you should at least take us seriously, because we will do the same for you. Take CaptainC's example. We try our best to do the right thing for someone we dont know. That's dedication. We're willing to go to war (and we have supported others in similar situations; fishcult, little, etc). So you're welcome to Morkin, but not welcome to join because you pressed the wrong button and then leave because you zipped your trousers the other way round...especialy when we had rumours (and I hate hearing rumours of fellow mates in my alliance ) that you're quitting and suiciding with our colors. You join, you JOIN! You leave, fine. But give a good reason, and dont drag our name through soil, because we dont like the taste of it.

We need the rules to be put somewhere in a thread and everyone who joins has to agree to abide by them before we admit them.
Is this list exhaustive, anyone got additions or queries?

Are we putting this in Inselkampf Public issues? If so, that forum, in my opinion, needs some cleaning up. Maybe delete threads that are pointless?

The one thing that always works for me and what I see work within Morkin is the sense of community... The knowing that the alliance is there for you. I have always played it that way in Raptor on IK.uk... you want top be a part of the alliance you contribute on forums and message boards... Sharing a bit about yourself, your family, your motivations and your ideals helps others to see you as a real person and not just as a colection of bits and bytes. I will always go to war for someone who I feel a connection with but I would always think twice for someone who has never contributed. The other thing about Morkin has always been the organisation, the coordination. Most alliances and that includes the majority of the top alliances on ik.uk are just a loose affiliation of big players who somethimes help each other out but rarely are more than one third of them actively involved in the alliance.
