You should aspire to be a smallholder, that way you can grow small amounts of various different things and have a market to sell the stuff.

But you can't make a living from doing that alone I don't think.

See, the main reason for me getting one is that I want to produce something meaningful with my hands that is an actual necessity. I think its a great feeling to go outside and look at some crops or fruit and rejoice at the idea that you won't go hungry because there is food right outside! lol
