Sorry for not posting this in the Pantheon agenda thread but it's awfully large and contains a lot of information. If a mod wishes to delete or merge, please feel free. Oh and yes.. confident sources here.. directly from their forums.

DIGG Pact
« on: September 26, 2007, 06:38:21 PM » Reply with quote
Honored members of Pantheon,
Following deteriorating relations with DIGG leadership the admins of Pantheon have voted to revoke the pact between our two alliances. We believe that pacts should represent a real partnership between two alliances and it has become clear that Pantheon has never been viewed in this light. There are many fair and decent players in DIGG and I, like many of you, have enjoyed my friendships with DIGG members as the server matured. Ultimately as a group though Pantheon has been treated with contempt, distrust, paranoid suspicion and with petty disrespect.
The crux of our disagreement seems to be the fear that Pantheon wants to 'win' the server. This has never been our goal. Those who see this is others are more often than not merely projecting their own desires on others. We do believe the game is flawed by unchallenged super alliances that for whatever reasons feel it is necessary to police the actions of others. Combine this with uncontrolled growth by super alliances and the server will become unplayable.
Many of you will be conflicted by your desire to not change our pact. There will be vitriolic words thrown around concerning what should be done. I would ask you to keep one thing in mind before you post your rebuttal; we are losing nothing by setting aside an agreement that will never be honored. A pact is more than just words of support, the real test is in the day to day working together of two alliances. Sadly the actions of DIGG leadership in the last few weeks make it clear that our goals have never been aligned.

Will there be an attempt to maintain a peace treaty once the pact is dropped?

I would like to see a Peace Treaty.
We are not declaring war here, just demonstrating what a Pact means for us, and it requires mutual trust and open communications.
DIGG has last the privilege of us calling them a Pact-mate... I still believe we maintain peace together.

Yeah Digg seems to be starting the propaganda machine against us now... they always are keen to take the second place position... we are definitely their main competition at the moment so I'm sure they want to take us down a notch.

It seems our merge brought the worse in DIGG. They just cant stand have any competition. It was really revealing how they drop the war against RK the moment we merged. The way we have been treated by DIGG by no means allow us to call them pact mates. All we need now is unite and work together as a team so we can face anyone.

The breaking of the pact with this Alliance was a great decision, but as several of my fellow members have stated I think a peace treaty is beneficial, and should try to be negotiated.

i agree
HOWEVER i believe it would be of greater benefit to us, if we waited for them to approach us with a peace treaty. if we ask them for one, it hints that we are either weaker than them, or that we're afraid of them. this could give them a devestating raise in morale.... we want a peace treaty, whether it's temporary or not, but we need to look strong and unyeilding

you could look at it from the other way though... if it is us that decided to break the pact then we already look as if we arnt scared of them... but if it is us that approches them for a peace treaty then it shows good will and should hopefully inprove diplomatic relations with them (meaning the peace treaty is more likly to stand)
but im just a newbie to the game offering a different point of view
