I asked Pantheon recently if they had the same view as us with regards to isles cleared prior to the tsunami. Their reply was quite a good one and I think I might incorperate it into ours at some point. I suppose one example of when that doesn't hold is if someone deletes an account we're attacking on which we've already cleared isles. In this case we would push and shove with our diplomacy

Wouldn't we usually have colonised the islands before they go rulerless in that case?

Usually yes, but as with the Klosch case he deleted his account whilst I still had attacks incoming (I'd already taken 3 isles but was going to take another 2). Luckily all my fleets landed after the tsunami (about 5 in the morning) so it was mine even by tsunami rules (even though one of my fleets had been sent 5 days before-hand).
We really need to get a vote going on which policy to adopt, there is still confusion as to which we follow (which at the moment is officially neither).
Added;
This bit on the first policy could do with updating; "The person with rights to an isle is the person who colonised it first." I think it needs changing to "The person with rights to an isle is the person who owns it when the Main House first reaches Level 2."
What do those who like that policy think?
