I Thought i'd start up a new thread for this as its hijacked the life_is_green application thread at the minute. ( could someone who knows how to, move the relevant posts to this thread ? ) I'm interested in what everyone thinks of the idea of having a feeder alliance for FoM. Something else im interested in is do the morkin players see FoM as a possible feeder alliance into morkin at some point in the future ? and what do FoM members think of the idea ? I know someone suggested it when we were talking about war against phoenix ( possibly arminius ? ) but it seemed to get swallowed up in the blood-lust.

Ah, yes, the bloodlust...
I am open to new ideas, but from ik.uk I remember the problems of the feeder alliances being: 1) difficult to control and 2) often the first or only casualties in war - the big alliances would just start the war against the (weaker) feeders and by the time came to the master alliances, they decided to cease fire.

FoM is not a feeder alliance to Morkin and has never been one. It only occurred to me that there might no longer be much of a reason to keep FoM and Morkin separate. As regards to the other discussion, it just came up that we could perhaps do with a third tier, where we put people in on probation. If they misbehave they get the boot, and in war they aren't necessarily required to take part, as they won't be strong enough. And if somebody dared to attack any of our alliances they'd be toast anyway, regardless of which one it is they attack.

I guess it really depends on how big the trivium wish to become. We are currently at 89.
Personally I'm more inclined to keep rejecting the weaker players and perhaps filtering the odd player from FoM through to Corleth or Morkin.
I don't really see how a feeder alliance will make organisation any easier, especially in times of war

I think the idea sounds great.
A side note also, might give some of us smaller players a chance to work on some diplomacy skills and test our mettle at helping run an alliance.
I would definately be interested in having a go at something like that. I know digital is interested aswell!

Aye, I am interested but it is ultimately up to the big wigs!

Personally I'm in favour of just letting smaller players join FoM, and not bother with a feeder. There was a more obvious reason to have feeders on the UK server, given that alliances were limited to thirty members. But if someone is worth joining our ranks, I can't think of any reason not to let them straight in, regardless of their size.

It might give them some incentive to be active. If you're told you can join on probation, and that lack of activity might get you booted out again, then you'd be more active. And once you're active, you notice what a nice and sociable bunch (of weirdoes) we are, and will never want to be passive again.
People like werd75na (is he active now?) could be put there. It would be more like an advanced recruitment stage, rather than a permanent hoome for weaker players.

Yer somewhere to really get to know them. The questionnaire is good n all but you don't know what the person is actually like I guess.

A quick update on this situation:
There have been 3 applications where it has been openly said that they should not be accepted purely on the basis that we have too many members. In the past 3+ applications it's been hinted that we should stop allowing people in which is fine by me, however we need another way of growing.
This is exactly why a feeder alliance is needed. I have a few proposed ideas/policies:
1. Application questionnaire kept the same. 2. Members of the triumvirate all get to vote on the member 3. All accepted members are on a trial period of 2 weeks, after which there place is finalised 4. After x amount of time if deemed appropriate they can be accepted into FoM (or Corleth, if Corleth are accepting people :S)
We should do this sooner rather than later.

Sounds good but I would have thought a longer trial period. Not much happens in two weeks around here (unless I missing something) and might not give players chance to shine, or sink for that matter.
Don't know if that makes much sense but hopefully you get what I mean.
