With the announced merger of Bibi and Unicron (see elsewhere) there's a discussion within the AMC whether merging accounts is equal to being a multi.
DIGG are very strict: if someone leaves the game and somebody else takes over the account, they have to give up the weaker of the two. If they take over islands, then troops and fleet will be destroyed. No fleet-stealing is allowed.
What is our stance on it? What if someone leaves the game and you'd like to have their isles?

I say as long as you don't improve the islands you take over, then why not? save what you can and destroy the rest during your colonising. Just do it quickly so that there is not the issue of having multiple active accounts. If a friend wants to give up the game and tells me he is going to send his fleet to some unruled island on the other side of the ocean. I will take that island and smile widely as I watch my new fleet coming back to me. As I have no friends in inselkampf, I will never have to worry about this.

I just don't like it. To me it's multiness, and I agree with DIGG's stance on it.
I am fully aware that there seems to be a different 'tradition' from the .uk server, but:
a) I didn't agree with the the general feeling on the .uk server either.
and
b) This is not the .uk server. Those that prefer the .uk unofficial rules can bugger over there and buggering remain there.

Absent any direct experience with the effects of multiplaying, I am abstaining from this vote, but thought I'd mention that the options in the poll could use some additional clarification and consistency.
- Yes, no merging should be allowed - Yes, but troops and fleets have to be destroyed - No, I'm happy to have more built-up isles - No, but I don't like it myself - Who cares?
The second option in particular seems to answer the question "Should merging be allowed?", while the first and fourth seem to answer the stated question, "Does merging constitute multiness". I have yet to determine what option 3 answers.
Am I reading this incorrectly?

Using two accounts simultaneously is classified as being a multi so I don't see why merging accounts is any different.

Merging accounts is not using two accounts at the same time. When two friends want one strong account, managed by only those two friends, there is no point of seeing merging accounts as multi (in this given context)

I think advocating the merging of accounts is dodgy ground.
it provides an excuse for players with several accounts to legitimise having more than one account under the pretext of "my mate gave up"
i think its clearer when both players are active and have shown themselves to be "different" and over time have gotten to know/like eachother then one decides to quit, giving his account to the first, but in all honesty how often do we think that this hapens lagitimatly? few and FAR between i would wager.
at this point in the game, when having another account produce resources and have to ship them to the main account and hope that sven dosnt notice i assume is becoming more of a hinderance than advantage i think we will see more of this 'my mate has been playing for months and now has decided to watch eastenders re-runs on UK gold' crap as players try to consolodate accounts.
I think if your offered an account, then by all means take it but give your account to a smaller player at the same time, or treat the given account as a static target and-without moving troops- attack and take the isles.
If i asked 30 people at work to start IK and build as fast as they could from the server start date up to just 2 isles 400lws and 2000 troops on one, then give me all there accounts when bored- boosting my account overnight by 30isles and 30 fleets wouldnt this be as bad as starting 30 myself?
regardless of the fact that i enginered it, looking at recent events...they were not in my controll so its hunky-dorey.....no
its MULTIPLE accounts running parrellel, that ultimatly benefit 1 player without the losses associtated with a hostile(or semi-hostile takeover) and this is wrong.
I think any absorbtion of any account withing our alliances should be discussed openly BEFORE isles are taken and if voted that the account go to another player and they delete then so be it, if it cant be discussed in an open forum then it shouldnt happen at all.
