I think for a policy as important as this one (since it may determine our fate in this server) we should, I don't want to say "require" because I guess people don't want others to tell them what to do...but, we really should have all of Luxor read this thread because this is something that will affect all of the alliance.

KoM need to be kept informed as well, get their feedback. I don't think Pantheon would be stupid enough to attack us. And if they do, they'd lose, and they know it DIGG? Who knows. Certainly they'd be a bit disgruntled. Maybe we can be nice to them in some meaningless way to smooth their egos. I think most of the Diggers who were involved in WW1 know that we did most of the heavy lifting in that war and we are not to be messed with. And I get the distinct impression that DIGG these days would be very easily decapitated and left directionless if it came to war. They have a lot of members, but equally huge numbers of those members are militarily insignificant noobs.

I agree with the Power over points thing. I just wouldn't want saying "no one in the top5 in points" to tie our hands in the future with an alliance that we may otherwise wish to pact with, for any reason. We've seen it happen in the past with peace treaties being in place and a conflict popping up we couldn't involve ourselves in because of them. So lets remove all current pacts, and decide who we wish to look at, or, if we wish to simply sit back and see who approaches. We've got a lot of power here...should we need to go "asking" alliances? I think they should be coming to us

There could be a similar approach to endding pacts as with peace treaties. Our peace treaties usualy are setup after a war. In a similar fashion our pacts could be dropped after a war with the pacted mate, argumeting that the pact had lived its purpose, lifespan and been fullfilled.
That way our external policy would always be redone, rethought and renewed. Even if we renewed with the same pact alliance as before, we had at least some time to rethink the matter.

What about, if say DIGG or Pantheon were to attack us and we got into a little trouble, we pacted with the alternative 'super-power' (lol). I'm sure that after dropping the pacts, If we offered one of them a chance to be Pacted with us again they would eagerly accept.

That would, in theory, be the deterrent to one of them taking an interest in wiping us out; the notion that if one of them pushed us, we'd go running into the arms of the other.

Well, I didn't quite mean 'running into the arms of' but yea that sort of thing hehe If one attacks, we side with the other, unless of course they were to do it together, but then eventually they would be left to duel it out between each other, and then there would be no mediators of IK due to the loss of Morkin (thats in the extremely rare event we were to lose )

How does this relate to idea of not pacting with alliances with 100+ members?
Lets not do pacts at all. Lets drop all dead weight, and invite those we like to Morkin. ~30 tough leathernecks...

hmmm, who wants to live forever? Afraid? Fear? Not Morkin Material!!
Anyway, Morkin will do the U-Turn. We are not afraid nor do we give a damn if the big ladies find the time to look on us as lunch. Its this boldness that will last forever, not the number of islands you hold.
C'mon!!! You're afraid that our current pact alliance will turn on us!!!!! geeeezzzz

Who's the peptalk for, Rogerio? Sounds like we're all on the same sheet of music Worst comes to worst, we've all got a handful of absolute fortress isles. We'll be bottled up with a few isles a piece, just enough to be a thorn in someone's side every couple of months Anyone who fears losing isles/army is absolutely playing the wrong game.

Hey, it was a great pep talk! Very "300". Don't get me wrong. Just seems like the opinion so far is that we're already willing to take our chances Maybe we should have a "Best Inspirational War Speech" contest ;D

I think the concern is more that Pantheon or DIGG would feel they could strike us with impunity from the other, rather than them trying to do it together. But if it's a risk we acknowledge and are willing to take, I'm game. Pantheon we can handle, DIGG won't attack us if they've got any honour. We would remove the pacts while stating we still are basically friendly towards the alliances involved, this isn't a U-turn as such, we initiated the DIGG pact when *they* were the little guys on this server. They owe us a few favours after we took out MX for them and then helped them finish Phoenix/ES etc. As long as we did it carefully and made DIGG aware that we weren't a threat to them, I think it would be a good move. Shakes the hell out of this server anyway. ;D
