Hi, If anyone has the ability to change my name from bishop to Bishop, I would be grateful of you could. I hate that when I see other people do it; I obviously just couldn't contain my excitement when I was signing up. Anyway, I'm twenty-five and studying Architecture at the University of Liverpool. I like to do a little bit of hill-walking, a tiny bit of rock climbing, I'm a freemason, and I have a passing interest in politics. I don't play any other games besides Kampf.

I'm at university as well, I also (a long time ago mind you) considered Architecture. Liverpool wouldn't have been my prefered institution of education though.
Are you a late joiner at University or are you ensnared by the long courses that Architecture offers? I heard that some were up to 7 years.

No, I did my undergraduate degree at the same time as everyone else, down in Portsmouth. But you have to do another two-year postgraduate course before you can get your professional qualification, and my year out in professional practice turned into several years.
I ended up at Liverpool by chance really (I sent off some very late applications, and they still had some places.) But the school of architecture has a good reputation, and the city is also not as bad as you might think.

I thought liverpool was a brilliant city, utterly spoilt by the people who live there! but ive only been once. I'm sure there are a lot of nice people there as well.

Well, it probably does have an above average percentage of nut-cases. But having spent a lot of time in London, the people around here are actually refreshingly friendly.

A Freemason ? At your age ? My father was one, but he got tired of it and I would not even consider it. Don't get me wrong, I'm not criticizing your participation in the Freemasonry nor the Freemasonry as such (really), but I do not understand what you hope to find there. It's not very cost effective either.

A murder? Well, they make a killing anyway!
I remember wanting to be an architect myself briefly at school when I found out during a careers lesson how much they earn. I changed my mind when I saw how long they have to stay at school for though!

Thank you all for the warm welcome. bishop now Bishop Welcome. And now I can post without embarrassment, many thanks. A murder? Well, they make a killing anyway! I can't speak for Inyati, but in my experience the concept of architects making a fortune is a myth, save in a small number of cases. Most architects actually earn relatively little; most of the people I worked with, in their early forties, have been on a sub 40k salary. Yes, I've been a mason since I was twenty-three. You're right that most masons are usually a lot older than that, but it still makes for an enjoyable evening in my opinion. As well as the social side of things, I also find some of the ritual and associated concepts quite interesting. Regarding cost effectiveness, that is rather a subjective point! Freemasonry is quite expensive. But if, for example, you're looking for a sport to play then golf is very expensive; however, if you like playing golf then you probably don't consider the financial cost to be excessive. I also get the impression that you are not a UK resident, so freemasonry may be somewhat different where your father practiced it. In the UK it has a long and illustrious history, the list of distinguished masons is almost endless. Our organisation's vast charitable work should also not be forgotten.

I'm afraid this is to be my final post here. The recent turn of events in the game has coincided with some turmoil in my personal life, the upshot of which is that I have left the game. The current conflict wasn't the fault of any Morkin members, but the actions of some people in the current alliance resemble the type of opportunistic colony grabbing that they made their name fighting against on the UK server, which doesn't hold much interest for me. Unfortunately, I don't think the principled heroics of yeteryear are likely to resurface on this server – so I've given my account to someone who I think will make good use of it. Sorry to dessert at an inconvenient time, but personal factors played a large part in my decision to stop playing.
Best wishes and good luck, Daniel 'Bishop' Payne
