Since this digg.com story and the opening of o52 / filling of o43, I've noticed something unique...
I made a colonization in o15 last night. I had 6 failed attempts, and wasn't successful until approximately 6 hours after the island went rulerless.
o15 is DIGG-rich waters. IIRC, they control over 50% of the islands there. And yet, even overnight, I did not have a single inbound colo.
I know Calamity encountered the identical situation in o33 recently, where she didn't colonize until about 6 hours after it went rulerless, and didn't see a single inbound coloship.
It would seem that in these DIGG waters, all available coloships are out on long-distance journeys to o43/52.
Meanwhile, looking around some of the veteran Pantheon members, I'm not seeing the corresponding pattern. You'll notice that guys like Pain don't have a single colonization out in those new waters.
My caveman analysis would lead to conclude that DIGG has virtually every available coloship out on multi-day trips, while many Pantheon members have their ships at home.
Not sure if it means anything omnious brewing or not...

Well thought.
A friend of mine share with me some thoughts along these lines as well a bit ago. He was thinking that these new oceans meant that colonial alliances would go low on coloships, while the battle ready ones where keeping their colos at docks. Meaning that after the colo spree might be a good time to declare war, take islands and have few hostile colos to deal with.

Good eye. There seem to be many indications of a preparation for something.

Pantheon don't have the balls or intelligence to work out that now is the time to hit DIGG, or a few days ago to be more precise!

Skulkrin has a point. If something was going to kick off it'd have happened by now.

When do you guys think Digg will go for the gold and declare war on everybody? I mean, this game first hit digg.com last October. Those of us that started then have been logging in several times a week for almost a year. If I were Digg, I'd think now would be the time to take on the server. Not because it makes any tactical sense, but just to see if one Alliance can conquer all the rest.

You're right that the timing should've been a couple of days ago, but I'm not sure I agree with the lack of balls or intelligence. At least not for all of Pantheon, but probably most of them are like that.

Not because it makes any tactical sense, but just to see if one Alliance can conquer all the rest. I'm not sure they'd want to do that, it would utterly kill the server, the main interest in IK is political, for that you need a lot of people with different views and backgrounds. However, if DIGG wants to take over the server completely, I think they would need to wait until their new influx of players were fully developed with some reasonable sized fleets first, so say around 3 months time or so. Even then it wouldn't be an easy victory for DIGG, not by a long way! Depending on how they did it of course. ;D

3 months would only give them chance to build up their isles and have a 300 lws fleet each. Judging by the number of players of this new wave playing they'll be looking at perhaps only an additional ~100-150 fleets of that size. It's certainly a helpful amount but in the grand-scheme of things (especially of things called 'Digg') it would only be a minor amount to add to their aresnal; especially since they already have around 7.5k isles without them.

They'd be producing enough stoners to defend the DIGGers with big fleets though, but 3 months is probably a little on the short side.
If DIGG wanted to take over the server and targetted Pantheon first, then all the other big alliances and could keep them isolated, then they could probably get to the stage where it was DIGG vs Morkin with a load of small or shattered alliances.
They could probably do that now actually.
That's one reason we should consider distancing ourselves from DIGG, or they could use us against Pantheon etc and then double-cross us.
But even then it would only buy us some more time.
