Damn hippy... Almost as bad as the commies!
(No offence intended to any hippies or commies out there... but you've got to admit. You do kind of suck)

I think spam is the point, but I definitely agree with Natmus here. I currently have a teacher that said the exact same thing as Cait about communists, but as one of my fellow students rightfullly pointed out, our teacher probably wasn't even aware that he was using a marxistic model while saying that

There are no commies in this world, and probably never have been. Lots of people calling themselves that (or being called it by the imperialistic capitalist bastards) though.

I had a self confessed socialist explain to me once about his ideal system of government, The very short abridged version is that he wanted all the money and resources to be controlled by a central body, including everything from food, clothes etc, to 42 inch plasma tv's and cars. then he thought every-one who was able should have to work ( we agreed on this bit ) and in return for working you'd be awarded " worker credits " which you could redeem against whatever you needed/wanted. He stopped explaining it when i pointed out that we already have a system very similar to that except we call it " money " and by not having everything controlled by one body we were more likely to get things for a fair price because people were free to compete with each other. I've always sort of thought that socialism would be a good idea if it didn't rely on people to work.

Socialism makes me laugh.
In the United States, there is a far more skeptical approach to increased government programs/regulations/oversight/etc.
The government cannot competently manage disaster relief, taxation, education, welfare, foreign relations, domestic elections, et al. How could a citizenry be asked to give more authority to such a government?
"Coming Soon, from the people who brought you FEMA, Iraq, and Bush v Gore, Socialist Healthcare!"
No thank you!
