Given that they are currently ever only used by seekers of guidance, a cheap and easy way of making them more useful would be to allow them to recruit, but with say, a 5 hour penalty?
Also, I'm thinking of letting their courage rise to at least "Unsure" (currently fixed at terrified), so at least they can attack. Useful if they come across an utterly exhausted king without his army!
I'm very keen on this, but if the whole world is against me then I shall bow to the voice of the people (just this once mind!)

I also would like to see some kind of special ability for Skulkrin, but not anything major. More in the category of 'neat trick', not really 'Kingslayer'.
But in the spirit of the header of this thread, Skulkrin should be able to recruit other Skulkrin, just like I think Dragons should be able to recruit other Dragons.

I think Dragons should be able to recruit other Dragons. I don't like that idea (sorry Mads!). Zerin is only 2 days from Martolax. Farflame 2 (I think) from Xuratoth. Too much of an advantage to get the first one, IMO

Maybe Skulkrins could receive guidance anywhere, but only of things near enough. "Fawkrin senses Lots of Frightening Tall men in the forest moving his way! (He needs to hide and soon)"

Or Skulkrin are simply invisible to the enemy? They're pretty sneaky after all. They don't block movement, but you end up fighting them if you end on the same square.
Make them super spies. They could even move through enemy armies- as the common location exploits have been resolved.
Or they can onlt be detected in the same square: 'A skulkrin is hiding here'.

That has much merit, and I know that Andrea would love that too. But it requires a fair bit of additional changes to the code, whereas my initial proposal would require exactly 2 lines of code to be modified.
Lazy, me?

Yes, long have I supported the Skulkrin. ;D I would love to see such stealth with them. They certainly deserve all the extra coding that would be needed. Just like the wise should be able to cast spells, Fey ladies do a little healing, etc. etc.... I'll stop now. Oh, and I agree that although it makes sense for dragons to recruit dragons, their incredible movement would make it rather unbalancing.

I think that the way to counter from a plotline point of view (not that there is an awful lot of plot in MU!) is to view dragons as solitary creatures, proud and aloof, who are defensive of their territory and won't allow anotherone near. How I explain the fact that they will accept a human recruiting them, I have no idea!

I've decided to go with my initial proposal, namely that skulkrin CAN recruit but it takes them 5 hours to petsuade anyone that they really are a messenger from a great king! Also that their courage can rise to "Unsure", which is effectively 50% courage.

How I explain the fact that they will accept a human recruiting them, I have no idea! Well, they are intelligent creatures, so they can be persuaded to join a cause, or they caould be very susceptible to flattery. However, no dragon would ever bow down to any other dragon, and so any approach from another dragon would be seen as doing their bidding. The reason dragons can't recruit humans is because humans (and fey) are too suspicious of dragonkind to listen. They will however seek out dragons themselves when the need is dire.

That's interesting - so you'd need a Wise before you could get a Dragon. Definitely worth considering.

That's interesting - so you'd need a Wise before you could get a Dragon. Definitely worth considering. If you introduce that, you'll have to move The Spider. And you may want to consider what other changes would be needed: anyone starting a 4-player in the SE would have two dragons they can't recruit, and they'd have to keep troops back to watch for infitrating Wise.
