What about a method to quickly see how close to the victory conditions you are ... or even how close to losing.

Do you mean number of citadels captured, or how weak the opponents are compared to you. The problem would be that that would take some of the fog of war away, in my opinion. Or were you thinking of another approach?

I was thinking of that, but came to the conclusion that it would be more fun to find out / guess how close an enemy is to victory right on the field, by a good spy network.
Maybe as an option. Or a last minute warning, like, King Merlin needs only one more citadel to become the supreme ruler of Midnight.

If one of the Victory conditions was Citadels lost, then maybe show that number.
Alternatively, maybe a progress bar... that swings toward winning or losing.
This could be a newbie option to allow them to gauge how they are doing.

The number of lords recruited, total number of soldiers.
But only as an option, please.

Or were you thinking of another approach? I think that FOW shouldn't be lifted in any case. Own numbers are OK (but you know them anyway, maybe just captured citadels/total citadels), but other players' stats shouldn't be visible/guessible.

I think you are coming at this from the point of an experienced player... as a newbie things are a little confusing... maybe games could be flagged for practice, and then more helpful info could be available to help the transition.

Like the lowest difficulty level in AOE? Maybe MS should offer me a couple of million $$$ for this game! (As if!) ;D

Say, in that sort of deal the minor shareholders, you know, alphas, betas, that sort of people, normally get a slice, right?
