I’ve kind of gone over this on another thread, but would appreciate comments.
It seems likely that our enemies will want to get a “beach-head” in our quadrants by colonising a planet from which they can launch attacks. I was thinking we could try to prevent this by moving fleets to “blockade” all un-owned planets, including abandoned ones.
In theory when a Genesis ship arrives to colonise the planet, it would be engaged by our fleets with a chance of killing it cheaply. This assumes you can issue “defend planet” orders for an un-owned planet.
It also would be handy as we wouldn’t have our fleets orbiting our own planets so any spying wouldn’t show our true strength. Of course we need to be aware of our foes doing the same against us, they wrote the game after all!
I recommend sending a small scout fleet ahead of the Genesis ship, after probes of course! Also worth giving Genesis ships a nice escort I think.
Comments? Is this worth doing and is it feasible? If it is then we can divide up the spare planets in each colony so we’ve got a few to look after each.
