I'm curious if there is any literature on LOM/DDR/The Citadel?
Also if there is a complete history of any of the 3 games.

Each game came with a paper-based novella, plus some people over at the Yahoo Groups have on occasion written short stories about LoM - probably in the Files section if you search through it. One person has even researched the LoM language from the 5 or 6 invented words in the novella! There is also an official guide to playing the Citadel, check out Amazon for 2nd hand copies. Plus of course, if you roll Ringthane's ramblings together, you get something akin to War and Peace, though far far more humorous!

Go to www.icemark.com/, where you will find the manuals for all three games, including "chronicles" sections with short stories to set the scene. The C64 tape version of DDR came with the story in audio format acted out (rather badly, I have to say) by a cast of "performers". I suspect these may well have been the production team and their friends having some fun. The audio files used to be available on the net in mp3 format, but I'm not sure if they're still about. A UK computer games magazine, Computer & Video Games, had a short Fighting Fantasy style feature based on Tarithel's journey into Icemark as a prelude to the release of DDR. I used to have this but haven't been able to locate it in recent times, which is a real shame. The real third game in the Midnight trilogy was supposed to be Eye of The Moon, set to the south of Midnight. Screenshots of work-in-progress on this game were printed in various magazines, but alas the game was abandoned before being completed. Part of the story of this game re-emerged in The Citadel years later. The Citadel, unfortunately, is the classic example of the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" syndrome. Aside from what you may find in the "files" section of the midnight Yahoo group and the icemark.com web site, I don't think there is any third party literature on Midnight. Hope that helps. (see Creator's post above for stuff I forgot about )

Slightly OT, not LOM, but Retro - a new computer mag has just been released in the UK - Retro Gaming. Loads on ZX Spectrums, Amstrads, BBC's, Ataris, Commodores, etc. Some original adverts from the 80s, a DVD full of classic remakes, and a top 10 games per platform.
But...
a) No mention of LoM or DDR (sacrilege) b) £5.99 Way too expensive!

Rambling is the crux of breath and the knot in my soul. I am extremely tired and could use a chaise longue.

I'm interested in putting together a complete story about the land of midnight starting from the beginning. I've got quite a bit of preliminary work done on it (I love to write!) and I'm looking to put all the pieces together. Especially LOM: The Dark Citadel, which I am having trouble finding any true info on. Perhaps I'll buy the strategy guide on it just to get some extra literature.

If you go to my guestbook (off the Community page at M/MU), one of the visitors actually wrote the manual to the Citadel. May be worth contacting him? His website and email are available there.
