Just to let you know that whilst alliances probably won't make it into the next release, they will certainly be in the one after that. I have workked out what needs changing, so the technical side is OK I think, but it's just a matter of *time*, as per usual.
Oh, and they will be dynamic, so you can stab your friends in the back. However, some neutral lords (high courage) may refuse to join you in that case.

I agree. But will the winner be an alliance also?

I agree. But will the winner be an alliance also? Yep. If you are still allied and the victory conditions are met, the alliance members all win. Hmmm... The games record only has one victorID field. Hadn't thought of that!!

I think it would be a shame to have an allied victory. When playing Risk, for example, one of the fun things is figuring out the precise moment you have to turn on your ally in order to win. That's usually one turn before they were about to turn on you (though they will deny it til they are blue in the face.) Otherwise you could just go three against one and annihilate your oponent, then ha-ha-ha we all win. Nah! Fight to the death after, that's what I say! (And you could hide a few sneaky lords here and there in advance...)
