[edc] Plan for Morkin in the R|M/SW war

The nselkampfNews site ( www.freewebs.com/inselnews/ ) had a link to some guy called "edc" and his history of playing in IK. Pretty boring, just a loooong list of alliances he has been in, mainly.

But towards the end it becomes interesting: He mentions somebody called Aspen's plans for how to go about dealing with F&S and Morkin as part of the R|M/SW war.

The very detailed plans of Aspen is quoted as:

My propsed plan with regards to Morkin and F&S:

Sohei and HoD joint assualt F&S tonight, to destroy their fleets and prevent all troop movement. I shall personally handle Morkin for the time being as I am confident my army is more than a match for most alliances.

Once F&S are being slaughtered, Morkin will have to come to their aid and will attack us, their fleets will be desotryed by our superior defnses and they shall be severely weakened.

We shall then finish Morkin off.

By this time, SW should have the measure of RM and we shall arrive to deliver a hammer blow to end the war.

Fantastic plan, how the hell can they expect us to behave as they want?

Not only was I the only one in Morkin who wanted to join the war, but also it turned out that F&S never joined in either, and Sohei and HoD didn't have the guts to attack them without provocation.
That plan of Aspen's still seem so superficial and naive to me.

ASPEN - THE WHITE TIGER

Why is the tiger white ? Because of all the bandages it needs, it's basically a white tigermummy !

I'll get background information from Shipper (he should know a thing or two) and when the time comes, we'll prove to him, that we can throw his alliance in almost as much disarray as we did with Elemental Lords.

We will also mind to put -White tiger- on our personal pages, so as to confuse them.

It's this Aspen that I once had to speak to when I asked Pheeny for a pact/peacetreaty/protectin agreement. He and she came up with that protection/guardianship that Pheeny would put on her page (and she did that) and we were allowed to put on our alliancepage. But then there was that incident with Mantaray and no one, certainly not Aspen nor Pheeny was at home to help us. It would indeed seem, from what I've read of that EDC stuff, that they were in fact not present, but that doesn't make it less outrageous ofcourse what happened.

I had to ask both Shipper and the original Colmfinito (both in VI at the time) and Xalthorn for help to even get that Mantaray to pay Archibald 70 % of all he had destroyed. Of which the treacherous Bastardo! only actually paid half !

And all the time these dipnutss keep talking about respect (see Aspen's page, he practically begs for it), Bushido codes of honour (I call it bunutso) and blah, blah, blah.

I say we come up with a devious plan to kick their tonsils.

Perhaps with selected Wraiths for the isles stealing, Shipper and Ratem as general backup, and some others like F&S (as directly concerned party, just like us).

S.P.Q.R. (former Teutonic) wants a pact with us by the way. They have armies, but no colonies. They could be of assistence in the colony stealing/fleet catching field.

I see many possibilities and I have often felt highly annoyed whenever I read that bullnuts they (Sohei) got on their pages.

That was my point by posting it. I think Aspen only has a very slim grasp of how you plan for war. They attack F&S, we just charge at them and break our ships on their defenses, and then Aspen can take us on all on his own.

To me it sounds like he wanted his alliance to draw our (hypothetical) attacks, and when our attack fleets were depleted, he would use his own (so far unused) fleets to colonise us.

Very clever use of his alliance. I wouldn't stay in it after that crap plan, but perhaps their standards are lower.

we flatened him one day and took all his isles. Dont know - maybe he s learnt his lesson... As far as I remember he was extremely weak but after we had destroyed him he took like 6 months to only build his army - that was the rumor at least. U better spy on him.

I've set up a new account called Ghostwheerl for the sole purpose of spying on Aspen + Sohei. It will take a while before I have ships though. I constantly forget to upgrade.
The login code is in the list of passwords though.

Following Oliver's request to look into Baskra's persistent nagging for a pact with us. I decided to write to Demon_warrioress, who is also admin and somewhat older than Baskra. I don't know whaty it is, but I'd like to talk to oldies nowadays. ;D

I think some of her ideas are worth considering and seem a far more convincing story than I've heard sofar from Baskra:

Thank you for the reply. It does show your age, as it should. It is very tiring sometimes to have to listen to what some here on this game call written communication. And as a former teacher I am very much concerned with form and style.

Baskra has been nagging us (Morkin) for a pact. And we are hesitant, as we were as well when Yuka wanted a legague of non aligned islands or something like that and she couldn't understand why weren't as enthusiastic about it as she was. I the end I think she disappointedly gave up on us.

I do not know how to properly describe how Morkin functions. Everybody can use a helping hand, sure and everybody from time to time needs mutual protection, but in essence we at Morkin are a suicidal alliance. We are rebuilding and waiting for the exact moment when we'll throw everything we got at some poor (but relatively mighty) adversary. We could perish as an alliance all together. If we get killed, we are not sorry. It's just the end to a game. And if we survive, well, we might still quit the game then. Is that what Baskra wants to be pact partners with ?

Likewise, while we are preparing for our dark and glorious events, we are not waiting to be thrown into intermediary incidents because of what someone allied with us might get into. It would interfere with our fleetbuilding.

Having said that, I want to stress that we have nothing against your alliance and we are not so unsympathetic that we wopuld not want to help out, but we are as an alliance what the Germans call an "einzelgänger".

[Blayd] knows this and accepts it. If [Eko] knows it too, and understands the way the cards are drawn up, well, then go ahead, have the pact with us then, but do not be alarmed when the next thing you know is Morkin assaulting [Sohei] over something irksome.

I have never been much aware of what Yuka did. But I sometimes heard her talking about a possible pact and cooperation with [Morkin].

After Yuka and her sister died, our alliance had a big shock. As you probably know, 60-70 percent of our members are Japanese, and many of them work in my same company. We have always thought of this game as something to do together, more for the pleasure to stay together than for true interest in Inselkampf. The death of two of our friends made us thinking that maybe it was time to quit.
Some of us really did and their accounts were deleted or given to somebody else.
Some others didn't take a clear decision.
Only Croix_Noire and Kuroi_Misa decided not to give up.

They slowly convinced other players to restart to play, even only for supporting [BdM]. This is why also Gothdruk ( his old account, Deadwind, was owned by another player so he had to restart from zero ) was back.
We continued growing, but we completely abandoned the idea of taking colonies and lost many of our hopes to have success in the game.

We are an alliance with 8 wings ( [Eko], [SR|Eko 2], [SR|Eko G], [BdM], [Kagero], [Kaizoku], [Shikoku], [Kishi] ), where the main alliance is not the one with the highest score ( the real Administrators of [Eko] are in [BdM] ), and without a real reason for continuing to play.

Our chances are two:

1. Quit here and start to play in the new German server, when it will be ready.

2. Find a target and contine to play only for that: a final battle that can change of our alliance into a "firework".

We have always thought that the top alliances killed this game, making it almost impossible to play for the small players.
It may be fun to start a war with one of them ( Sohei, Wraith or some other ).

As you can see, my message doesn't contain any proposal of Pacts, cooperations, etc. etc.
But I can tell you that we may be interested to find a final goal ( and that could be a war with Sohei ) and quit our game there.

P.S.: I'm at home now and my 2 years old child is running around my table. Do you have children? I love children. My child is the nicest thing I had from my life.

So based on this I've changed my mind and am in favour of a pact then with them and their wings and we should set a goal to attack. I'd say ASPEN. And we'll see who else in Sohei we can tackle. However, remember that Diego is an ex-Sohei figure. We do not want to tell everyone -if we decide to go for Sohei/Aspen at all- what the target will be.

We need a firm date to be agreed in advance and it should give us plenty of time to build up again, I've 3 new colonies which will take at least a month before they can provide any kind of offensive capabilities.

Whatever we do needs to be kept hush hush so we get the pre-emptive strike, using Ghostwheel for spying will be helpful.

Well, I'm back to Solstice strength now. If we leave it another month I could probably field nearly 400LWs, all archers, and 40 or so cats as a Suicide Strike Fleet.

Those who were paying attention last time might be expecting us to go to war on the Summer Solstice so the end of June is out. Maybe hit them a couple of weeks earlier? Any significant dates in history around the start of June?

1) It's one month too early for my taste
2) I'm finding it difficult to tie up some ideological connection to our possible target(s) and D-Day. Who do we need to liberate from oppression ?

The point is that while some of these buggers can build up their armies for 6 months, none of them can keep that up (too boring) like we can if we know what we are doing that for.
