Should more than one try/effect should be found at one location per day? Now Hordes gather to lakes to drink from bottomless well of healing liquid.
Execptions could be keeps & citadels & villages & perhaps lakes & towers, where things could be found repeatedly.
(I am curently boosting ~20.000 men in a single lake & lith, making my enemys Citadel look quite ridicculos and unneeded. (Perhaps he sneaks out in his turn to get Blood, but that should not be nessessary, Citadels should provide most that defenders need)
Of course this would again make keeps & citadels more powerfull, but is that a bad thing? Currently it might be a bad thing, but when more sophisticated game modes are introduced, i think it's essential that strongholds have strong status.

In that case, chances should be much increased. And what to do with hours left? That way, even if you failed to find water of life, you would recuperate some. As things are now, if you fail thrice in a row, you completely loose all day. Is that better or worse as a system?

Odds should be 95% then... and I agree with Robert, buildings will play a definitive role when properly campaigning.

Midnight is special and magical place, but fish-mining unexhaustable resources is something else. What special is about Blood of courage or Waters of life when anyone can get bunch of them anytime? Chances should go lower. Only relief what i would make is to cut the search time to 1 hour, and that, only if chances would go down, and only one Item per locatin per day, happens. And sparetime could be used for rest, or movement.
