Armies (and all things) would get an efficiency for the coming nights battle, depending how many hours they still have left in the day. This would solve many other problems, and make the game have more strategic nature.
So you could use 3 hours for resting, and get a 70% efficiency, or if you used no time for anything, you'd get 100% efficiency. Attacking armies would suffer if they came from far and entered the battle on their last hour. (would 25% for this be good?)
The figures i used are spnapped from the wind, but the idea is good.
Efficiency could be 100%-used hours*10 or something similiar.
This would also be very intresthing if/when more attributes is introduced.
This would also make riders benefit on open, feys in woods, dwarfs in mountain.

Oh come on, comments, I think it's a great idea, and then nobody even reads it.
Efficiency could also be something between 50% and 100%, but i'd like it go as low as 25%.

No matter how though you are, the guy spending all day preparing to battle, is more prepared than the on who marched whole day(even if he's luxor).

Good topic. Don't forget that besieging armies can camp and recover, too. And warriors defend better than riders, probably... and extra depletion for attackers (tires more than moving).

Which is where having additional types could make it interesting. Pikemen would have it over riders, riders over warriors, and warriors over pikemen. then throw archers into the mix as having a first strike capability.
