As the subject says: what is your favourite starting location? Do you have different preferences depending on numbers of players and/or victory conditions?
Converesely, what is your least liked starting point? Again, does it vary with the game parameters?

I like starting near Shadows ;D ;D Anytime Anygame ;D The sheer recruiting power that Rothron and the Fey holds is owerwhelming. You can race to all of southern Midnight and even take a part of the northern lords bu driving hard to the north.
Least favourite is NE part. And NW too.

In all those 110 games I played, I only won three having started in the SW (former hole of Rorath through Gard). Hence, I despise this region ;D I like the NW better, near Amy or Doom square, but definitely excluding Glorim, which is even worse than Gard. Anyplace Ithril is good too. When playing citadels, give me a Gorgrath start anytime...

Starting positions are always relative to the other players, and so hard to define as always good or always bad.
Generally I like starting close to the middle of the map within easy distance of one of the central lords that quickly can spread the good word, and then expand in all directions at one, so that you close in your opponent in whatever quadrant that unfortunate person has started in.
More specifically, the Plains of Blood, as has been suggested, is fine, as Blood, Shimeril, Mitharg and Thrall (perhaps even Gorgrath) are within easy distance here.
Also in general term starting out towards the edge is bad. Corelay, Fadrath, Gard, even Moon is baaaad.

Fadrath can be okay with a Fey king. Two Wise and E lane in reach?
