I swear to hell that JY must have taken The Spider from a Neil Gaiman story.... haven't you? What about the others, Muhaha and Evasta? Kathryn and Rachel? Tuhr seems pretty standard, and Zerin too...

The Spider? No, the old crooked occultist who had Dream in a bottle.

Afraid not, Ringy.
When I was populating Doom Square, I was still planning a 2 player-only game - Luxor vs Doomdark. As such I wanted to create some lieutenants for Doomy.
The Hand is Doomy's right hand man (hence the name!). Nasty character, does what he's told and does it ruthlessly. The Spider was supposed to imply a shadowy character who lurked in the background, spinning a web of lies, deceit and spies. Hence his name.
I don;t think that I've read much Gaiman. Did he cowrite something with Pratchett, or am I confusing him with someone else?

Damn. Do you believe that there's actually a Gaiman story where the villain is the spider and a character shouts "sod this for a game of soldiers"? ;D
