This is one subject I had to figure out for my novel. I have kept the Wise all male. And there is a very good reason behind this. Can't wait to reveal it! Reminds me of Feist's Midkemia series, where he and Wurtz made a spin-off series set on the Tsunami homeworld, and where all their powerful magicians were male as well. Turned out that about the same amount of male and female children with the talent for magic were born, finally. Somebody just had all the female children killed off. Pretty ugly stuff, when you think about it. I hope you don't use the same method. If I should venture a guess, I might say that in order for men to achieve wisdom, they would have to give up all baser lusts, emotions, sexuality and family. But I could imagine women, in extreme cases, give up those things as well. Guess I'll wait to the novel is published before I find out. Sorry about the thread polluting
