According to my calculations (excluding Amarin ), there are 97,750 soldiers to recruit in the game (both wandering and garrisoned).

I am dead sure that JY would round it to 100k. Amarin doesn't carry 250?

Actually, although the numbers of men that a lord starts with is fixed for each game, the number of men does vary since: 1. The players' armies are randomly generated (within a given min/max band) 2. The garrisons are randomly generated, with Citadels getting more than keeps 3. Citadels slowly regenerate men. This probably needs to be upped a little to have much effect. Amarin doesn't get any men as who would follow the little toad anyway?
