How do people use reserves?
I tend to try to position some armies at central points of my domains and use these to get to flash points. Usually cavalry and dwarven armies are best for me.
I'd be interested in how you all do this in Citadel-grab games, as I have yet to play one of these (except in pre-release testing against myself, where strategy/tactics play no part!)

I seldom use reserves as such. It's more a question of troops that were left behind because they were tired, sent to a distant citadel for more soldiers, or simply waiting for the soldiers zo grow.
Reserves automatically mean that, for a few turns, there would be less troops on the spot then there could be, and so greater losses would be taken.
I only use them when I don't know from what quarter to expect trouble, but that can usually be avoided by placing a few spies.

In my language that's an alien concept. I like to have special ops teams in the lane alleys, namely two dwarves on one side, and two full cavalry on the other, just to keep prey from rebuilding too much. Does not work against Rata Louca, because he does not give me time to have two full anything.

No traditional reserves for me either, for the reasons Matija's already covered. I do employ various battle tactics to cover for the lack of reserves, but ultimately if a force is insufficient for the task ahead of them, retreat is always an option.
In my experience, citadel games have mostly turned out to be races, but even so they put even more strain on resources than regicides, so reserves are even less likely to be employed.

Ah never mind, there is one Fey worse IIRC, so bad I can't remember his name SE of Lorangriel in the mountains the scum. I'd use him as reserves, not fit for anything else, maybe pestilence clearance! ;D Imgormiel I think is was, pah!
