I have added an option for either all battles or only battles including lords (characters) so that overrun garrisons arn't reported. Likewise there's a choice between only battles including your forces, and all forces.

If I manage to get hold of the domain info then I will implement it. Personally I prefer not to know where other people's battles are. Surely that removes some of the tactical advantages such as sneaking up the sides to create a pincer?

I would favour the option of having all my battles reported (including fallen strongholds), plus a random selection of other people's battles.(e.g. up to three, with every battle having something like a 10% chance of being reported. Again, this would include strongholds.)

The most realistic option would be all battles (people flee, and scream, you know, dying slowly with every step and reporting across the entire land on how their villages were blissfully upgraded to Targ settlements) but I agree with JY where player-on-player thrill is concerned. Hmm.

OK, OK! Seems like a popular request, so I have bowed to the masses I implemented this feature last night. At present it follows my preference, but if the mass of opinion is against me I'll change it. To be honest, it's one of those things that may need tweaking after the release, as we won't really know if it plays "right" until then. But the main thing is that it's now done and will appear for the next release.

Thank you, Jens-Ove.
And thank Marie for complaining in one thread about the lack of information of (missing) combat that reminded us all of this (missing) feature.

Hmm. Rumours of battle would always get out, but rumour takes time to travel, and is notoriously unreliable. What we'd be talking about here is instant intelligence, and because it's instant you'd be able to direct scouts to investigate or even move your armies to intercept. Stealth of any sort would become virtually impossible. That's why I think other people's battles should stand a good chance of not being reported.

I've been up until around 02:00 (getting up at 06:00) since I was 20 or so... Maybe that's where the voices come from...

With all those gadgets original lom had, it aint so unrealistic in MU if the main lords can feel a disturbance in the "force" in the domains of Kor, Dregrim and Blood. And this also can be an option when a game is created.

I voted for all battles. It is very atmospheric. And I don't think it gives too much away - it could even be used as a means of disinformation, sacrificing an armyless lord somewhere on the other side of the map.
