-Usualy participates will only receive one ribbon for a campaign.
-The campaign ribbon is made up of the B1 as background + symbol.
-The symbol will identify what he did in the campaign.
-The ribbon can have more than one symbol on it, ie. If its composed by B1+B3+B5.2, that would indicate that the member was a good organizer and captured many enemy islands in that Campaign.
-However Special Awards are difirent ribbons, that will have the basic design as background (B1), but will have other emblems/symbols. So you may be lucky and get that as an extra ribbon for the campaing
-Superscripted numbers mean that the specific award will accumulate to another
alliance award marked with the same number
Q. Who receives a campaign ribbon?A. Everyone that takes part in a campaign will receive a ribbon, even if just the simple "Participation" award.
Q. How many ribbons can you receive from a campaign?A. In most cases you'l only receive
one ribbon. In special cases you may receive 2.
Q. How come there are so many awards and you only get to receive one ribbon?A. Besides the "participation" ribbon - which will consist of a colourful design - all other awards are marked with a symbol that is added to the basic "participation" ribbon; ie.
a) Simon took part in Tyrant campaign. He popped around the forum, gave some opinions, sent some attacks and some spy ships. In other words he showed interest and dedication to the campaign, but ultimatly did not distinguish himself in any particular way.
b) Rachel did as Simon, but managed to colonise an enemy island.
c) Mike took part as well, but his diplomatic skills were excelent, as he got to add more alliances to the cause and keep them united to us by a constant flow of information and discussion.
d) Frank was awesome. He colonised, bombarded a whole lot of buildings and killed off half of the overall enemy force.
e) John, on the otherhand, was just as good a diplomat as Mike and alos got to colonise an island, just as Rachel.
f) Sam didnt popup, was away, or showed no interest in the campaign.
The Tyrant Campaign awards would be given as follows:
a) Simon receives the "participation" award, for helping in the campaign, or simply for just being around and showing some interest:
b) Rachel would receives the "Expander award" under Colony takeover category:
c)Mike receives the "Diplomatic effort" award:
d)Our hero Frank would receive the "Above courage" award:
(in terms of design, though having the same backgroud, it should have a rather "noble" emblem)e) John would acumulate two awards, from diferent categories and his ribbon would look like this:
f) Sam does not get any award
As you can see, all of the above people (except Sam) received only
ONE ribbon for the campaign.
Also the idea is that the symbols used here for the awards should be similar for ones used in alliance awards.
Q. So in which cases may someone receive two ribbons for a campaign?A. These will happen rarely, but someone might come out from a campaign with many awards. We are looking at an extraordinaly feat. When this occurs, a member might receive two ribbons, which are the 2 special ribbons, or one ribbon with several awards and 1 special award. It will depend. Butonce again, this is looked aponas an extraordinaly act.
Q. How do the Special Awards work then?A. The special awards are given to members who acheive various things in the same category, like our above example of Frank. If someone is elegible for 3 awards in the same category (Military or Administration) then instead of having an acumulated representation of those awards on his ribbon, he receives a Special ribbon. For now there are only 2 special ribbons, given to members who fulfil 2 or 3 achievments of the same category. But Quite possible there should be 4 special ribbons.
As you can see there is an explanaton next to the award as such: ((B2+B3) or (B3+B4) or (B2+B4) or (B2+B3+B4)), for just one award. We could split i up so that if someone acheives (B2+B3) or (B3+B4) or (B2+B4) - meaning two awards in a category- he gets Special Award 1; but if someone gets (B2+B3+B4) - like Frank- he gets Special Award 2. We will then end up with 4 Special awards rather than 2.
Q. How are the awards evaluated?A. Some awards depend on a nomination, others result from information given and calculated.
Nominated awards are all administration awards:B2-Diplomatic effort; B3-Organization; B4-Support.
Awards based on solid information are all military awards: B5-Colony Takeover; B6-Bombardment; B7-Kills
Special Awards derive from the accumulation of the other awards.
Q. All very nice, but how can you evaluate the Military awards?A. Colony takeovers are based on intel that is given, and is fairly easy to know. People always report in when they have taken a colony. Its divided into 2 subcategories to distinguish between members and to merit those that really take colonisation seriously. The first is given to all those that colonise one island, but the second should really be hard to get, showing the persons extraordinaly acheivmente. Its based on how many islands someone manages to colonised, in relation to how many islands the enemy had in the begining of the war, rather than just a static number like 3 or 4. For now its determined that if someone manages to colonise 1/3 of the total of the enimies islands, he's a true imperialistic Bastardo!. In Tyrants case, anyone who managed tp colonise 7 islands would have received the award (Tyrant had 21 when the war started). The relation can be lower to 1/5 or whatever. But I think its the best way, as some enemies may have more islands than others, and you cant give this sort of award to everyone that manages to colonise say 3 islands...
The Bombardment award can and should be based on a similar relation. I think there should'nt be a distinction here, but rather if anyone reaches the mark, he'll get the prize. The way to calculate the mark to get this prize can be based on the enemies score when the war starts (somewhat easily gotten from our database). I havent worked it out, but we all know that our scores are based on how much infraestructure is built on the islands. So taking down x amount of buildings worth y amounts of the enemies score should be the racio. ie. Say an enemy has 3000 points when the war starts. This award would be given to all those that took down 1000 points worth of buildings (using a 1/3 ratio).
Naturaly it will be based on reports posted in the forum.
The Killing award is I think the hardest to evaluate. We would alll like to receive it, but we all know its utterlay based on reports, and someone will have to keep track of it. It could also however be tied up with the enemies score, calculated like the Bombardment award.
Q. Are these awards limited to one person each?A. No! Anyone who manages to acheive what is layed down here shall receive the award.
