I've taken the liberty of of changing our alliance profile to say we have stopped accepting applications until this is decided. I don't think we can keep accepting people into FoM the way we have been, the deciding factor for me was our recent vote on the new admn position, we had 16 people not vote.

Do not really know how to vote in this one. But maybe a partner alliance is the way to go! FoM is highly thought of and is an alliance many would like to be in.

I'm very undecided about this.
At first I was really against a partner alliance only because many alliances remind me of .:VI:. and how that fell apart not only on the ikuk server, but all the other IK servers. But then I started thinking, if these future applicants are not with us, they may be against us...so why not create another alliance and have them on our side.
But...
The more players we have, the more impersonal things get because people will have a hard time keeping up with all the members of all the alliances. I've been in FoM a couple of months and I'm already familiar with most of the members here. I like smaller groups because I get to know players better and it's easier for me to lend them a helping hand if I know them...I would help them anyway, but I like to know who I'm helping. Additionally, the more members we have in this alliance or in other partner alliances, increases the chances of us getting a spy...
But, I don't know...

when the idea was first raised i was against it in favour of letting people straight into FoM, but as we get more members we get less interaction and discussion from the alliance as a whole. This isnt aimed at anyone in particular in FoM, i know we are all active and different people post on different topics so i dont think anyone is actually not reading them, its just that most people don't voice their opinion. there could be a myriad of reasons for this but i think one of the bigger reasons is that with nearly 40 people its tempting to think one vote wont make a difference, or that someone else has already posted what you think of it. with a partner alliance tied to us and morkin we get all the benefits of our very selective recruitment and get to keep actual numbers down in each alliance.

I think we should allow some applicants directly into FoM if we feel they are top notch applications, but set up a sister alliance for those who are not quite so good.

Hmmm, I wouldnt like to find out that im in FoM as opposed to morkin because it was deemed i wasnt "top notch" Aslo creaming off the players we would like in Fom would not only leave the sister alliance feeling unworthy but would leave them without players that could react/help the others out in times of need, and would leave them needing support constanly. Using the same selection process as we have now and simply sending any applicant that cuts the mustard over to the new alli is the way to go i think.

There is no difference between Morkin and FoM, apart from the fact that the Morkin members know each other from another game and in many cases also in real life. Perhaps we could use to opportunity to look at geographical closeness? Grouping players together who have their core islands in particular regions?

I view the creation o another partner/sister/sibling alliance as purely strategic, where its easier to manage 30 member alliances instead of 300, and where we can also camouflage our realy numbers. There is no diference between alliances, as explained by Arminius, and infact people can (and probably even should) move between FoM and the new one for varous reasons, be it geografical context, need of veteran members in new alliance , or be if for the hang of it.
I think its quite visiable that what makes our current 3 alliances stick together well is this forum. So its very important that all participate here.
