A competition... the strongest members try to steal a colony off you. If you can hold on to your colony for x days you stay in, otherwise you're out. Now that'd be evil How did Ashimar manage to post as Arminius?

I think it's best to keep the alliance around 30-35...anything bigger gets really messy. When I was in SoH they made many fruitless attempts to organize due to the size of the alliance and like someone mentioned earlier, most people in it only wanted protection. Perhaps the best thing to do is have a waiting list for future members? I agree with that. As Arminuius said, Morkin's strength has always lain in loyalty rather than size, and we already have numerous members who don't participate at all. So I can't see much advantage in expanding further at the moment, since the application system is only partially successful in weeding out useless members.

Its not impossible to organize big alliances. I was actually very impressed at the way [Pheonix] have been able to get members involved.
They've managed to get my semi-inactivefriend, talking on the external forum even!
Trouble is, scrutiny is much more difficult with big numbers. At least here, we could see easily, say, if a member got an isle stolen.
How much activity counts as activity? I havent posted as much as I would like to here, but I still read everything.
Some people just dont take to forums so easily as the majority here! But if they still read everything, and make the occasional comment, what then?

Fine as long as essential information is regularly communicated. By this I mean an update on fleet and army strength and perhaps details of any significant external interactions.

I think reading stuff to stay up-to-date is fine. If everybody posted stuff as well, then there'd be too much too read On the other hand, what really counts is participation in the game in alliance matters.

Im still rather new to this alliance, but how often are we supposed to update on fleet and army strenght...I've only done it once...

Interesting debate, I guess it will never be answered till we go to war.
However the larger an alliance grows, the less you know players and the greater the chance of a spy

Where is this database? Being new to the alliance I am unsure about these things, I'll root around the forum for more info. On a randomly related point, I refused to post my fleet and info on Valheru's forum because of security issues, hopefully it should be ok here.

Only those with access can see into the fleet database I think; basically several of the original Morkin members. This is for security reasons of course
