Ocean-by-ocean net results from yesterday: o1 - no colonizations o2 - Pantheon +4 o3 - Pantheon +2 o4 - DIGG +1 o5 - DIGG +3 o6 - push o7 - DIGG +4 o11 - Pantheon +1 o12 - Pantheon +3 o13 - DIGG +6 o14 - DIGG +3 o15 - DIGG +2 o16 - DIGG +2 o21 - Pantheon +5 o22 - Pantheon +2 o23 - DIGG +4 o24 - DIGG +1 o25 - DIGG +1 o31 - DIGG +3 o32 - DIGG +6 o33 - DIGG +2 o34 - no colonizations o41 - DIGG +4 o42 - DIGG +2 o43 - no colonizations o51 - DIGG +2 o52 - DIGG +1 Can be found here: corleth.com/index.php?action=World_events&event=8As referenced earlier. This updates daily, and is our best tool to see how and where the war is going. DIGG is bypassing non-combatants, for the most part, to concentrate fire on those inflicting damage upon them (they will turn to the non-combatants later, as they have made quite clear in the past and present that they hold all members of an alliance accountable - see E|S extermination and Phil299's IK forum postings recently). Over the past few days, DIGG's o15 (boasting 550+ isles) has cleaned up the local threats, and is now shifting fire into o14. I have heard from both Drake and Autobahn that they are now seeing incoming from o15 in their towers, and expect to be rendered incapable of offensive operations within 24 hours.

Hmm just a little phrase that is often used in rugby down here "Don't rely on the another team to make a mistake, go out and force one". I dont think Digg will make the mistake of breaking up on their own. As Clauz says they are "pouring honey in our ears", why would they want to break up when they could slowly but surely dominate the whole server? They may say they dont want global domination, but why wouldnt they? But then that may just be the pessimist in me.
Some of you guys are saying why are we going to war to try and avoid something that may possibly happen in the future? Thats because now is the only time we can stop it. I guess the real question is are you prepared to sit around and do nothing and just leave your fate in the hands of Digg...

I can see the reasons for going to war, no doubt they are as clear as day.
Sure the same goes for alot of us but in the newer oceans we would just get raped. Even including pantheon they out number us massively.

Breaking up is not a mistake. It's the sensible option to prevent a stalled server. But Digg are now in a corner, and if we and/or Valheru join against them they will never split.

Why wouldnt you just continue to roll over the server?
Not saying that would happen but that would make an exciting 6-12 months for them

Even including pantheon they out number us massively. The counter-argument is that we'll get raped in the new oceans all the same, simply delayed a few weeks/months, when we're fighting alone.

Apocalypse NOW!
Everyone is too happy in Digg as far as I can tell- I never see them splitting. Why would they?
I think post-Pantheon the server will be looking at a situation of pax-Digg forever. War becomes less profitable as the server matures anyway; stability and boredom is the best possible result of Digg hegemony. It will possibly be a lot less fun.
I think the server is coming to an end as a fun place anyway. I, for one, am up for moving to pastures new. There are other games.
As far as I can tell the choice is: BANG or whimper.
How do we want this to end?

That said arrangements should be made for those that can't fight; they can do an important job from the sidelines.

NO WAY! 17:14 is not a sufficient majority.

It'll be war. Poll closed. I guess it was rash to close the poll. So its re-opened. and the War will not be unless so decided.

For the record, Morkin has no constitution that we are peaceful, or democratic. We are peaceful and democratic by choice, not by definition. And Peacefulness doesn't mean we can't make anything preemptive.
Those taking responsibility can and should make decisions without having to set up polls. Majority is not always asked or needed.
Everybody is saying if Morkin decided something, they will follow, even against their will.
Well the thing here is, that Morkin did decide. (Or whats left of it anyway) We decided we will stand up against Digg. Not with happy hearts because the timing is lousy, but because it must be done.
We didn't say when and how, but its obvious it needs to be done soon, and soon is nowhere near with all this second guessing and undermining, and the moment is waning.
So, there will be a war.
It did not happen tonight, but it will happen soon. Then all you have to do is decide if you are Friends of Morkin or are you not.

I am most definitely against involvement in this war. I feel we are being pulled by outside forces into this war and I don't want us to fall for that.

Just saw that the poll had temporarily been closed and what? 17:14 was the vote? We were to go to war? Never have we gone to war with such a minor majority !!!! Now it's 18:16 (53% pro-war, 47% pro-peace). Shendemiar - if your decision is that we have to follow such a small majority to the ends of the world, or we are not Friends of Morkin - you are either with us or against us, eh? - then detract my vote (then it's 18:15) and remove me from this board.

This is -I feel, too close to call...
Splitting up is not the way I see to resolve this, us being involved may change things but only if we are all on side, sending us to war in 2 parts(1 today and 1 when digg decide to wipe out the rest) is madness.... of those that chose to stay out you are just making yourselves AN EASIER TARGET for the future...
Do we have other options?
I think the reservations that many of us share are around the number of troops that have fallen over the last few weeks to orc/rihen, and wanting to rebuild a little..
Could we not find some middle ground, while not losing fleets, still hurting digg?
One possible solution could be to support [pantheon] on a MASSIVE scale with defences, alowing [pantheon] to fleets save and counterstrike in a few days, the isles that have attacked our stoners? this could be done without being common knowledge, [digg] would lose a lot of bite , and may be more willing to bend to [panth] demands if it was seenn as still being a 1 on 1?
