Hello all, i have finally found a bit of spare time to introduce myself. I live in a small village called Mile End near Colchester & Ipswich of Essex. Im 17, was doing a full time IT course at college, but recently decided to quit. I haven't quite decided whether the reason was because the course was not what i expected or because i wanted to add to my collection of isles on ik.uk. So now im currently unemployed, spending most of time playing a few text based games. When i get a bit of spare time i do enjoy the odd game of guild wars. I also play the likes of BF2, CSS and Command & Conquer games, but i dont really have time for those nowadays. My army stats for ik.com are: Army Stone Throwers (450) Spearfighters (879) Catapults (1) Ships Large Warships (30) Small Warships (15) Small Merchant Ships (20) Colonization Ships (1) That one collo ship is on standby for when the isle in my main grid becomes rulerless. These stats are quite poor and i guess im starting to fall behind in this game due to the amount of time running 1,000+ isles on the other game takes. Although i believe that will change soon as it seems Grover is plotting to take me down on .uk, as im slowly becoming a threat to his rank. Seems that the rules state that only Grover & his freinds are aloud to collo Puttana!, ANYONE else who manges to do so is a cheat. Interesting theory.. But i can assure i simply have a lot of time on my hands rather then cheating (I didnt get far enough into my college course to learn how to script! ). Peace out

I respect your choice to quit the school - if it's not right, it's not right. (This is coming from someone who almost have a masters degree in something he's not that good at)
I think your stats on ik.com are fine, considering how long it has been on.

Sounds familiar, I was studying A levels at 6th form college including Computer Studies but dropped out as I found it intensely dull and didn’t want to go to “school” for the next x years of my life. Here I am as a software developer, most of the people I work with have degrees, but admittedly it did take me 17 years and a very circuitous route to get the job I wanted when I was at school. And now I’ve got it, I wonder why I ever wanted it in the first place! I do wish I was your age now though, or at least knew what I know now 20 years ago………….. If you are interested in computers and programming, the internet is an absolutely fantastic gift.

Peace out Reading about it in the public .uk forum, it does seem like a lot of people working together to take you down, for little or no good reason. What Tom is doing in the company of the rest of them I don't know, but it's a black mark for him in my book I'm glad to see you're fighting back, at least. Teach those bullying assholes a lesson and go down fighting. It better to go down that way than only to chose easy fights you are sure to win, and being protected many times over. So you were James back then? I believe we talked just before that account were wiped out.

Yes im "James" and yes i remember talking to you. I havent had time to check the S1 forums as im getting about 5 attack reports and the like every single minute. I was surprised to see tom attack too but it doesnt make much difference. Its good how wraith will support their hackers when there is proof and yet they will jump at the chance to attack a possible cheater even when there is no proof whatsoever. Anyway, enough of that, this is a different game. Although i did have a threat from some one i destroyed last night on uk, they said they would attack me on this one. Cool huh I probably wont be too active on this game over the next few days as you can imagine.

I feel guilty. I'll send you stonethrowers on this server. In my defence... you attacked me first. ;D
My insatiable greed for isles needs to be tamed on .co.uk.
You should give me a game of CSS or Command & Conquer sometime!

20 stone throwers for... 10 isles? You spied and you were one of the key members in the organisation. I dont have either of those games loaded either. But when my account is finished with, i'll get them loaded asap and give you a game. Back to .com... Just got my 5th isle, with another collo ship on build

No offence, this is a war game. Kill or be killed. No mercy. Keep your friends close and your enemies closest. e.t.c To be quite frank, people who accuse others of bullying in IK take the game to seriously. To many comparisons are made to the 'real world'. The whole point of all games is to escape from RL. It is not bullying because it is a text based internet game. My view is that 'ganging up' on other people is merely shifting the odds in your favour. Intellingent gameplay. I'm in such a bad mood But, seriously I do actually genuinely like Nemesis ;D. Maybe I have been harsh. Peace in.

What's the idea of playing a game where you are sure of winning, or at least never risk anything? The good player may play it safe every time, but great players are the ones that take risks or accomplice things against great odds. Have any of the players currently taking down Nemesis on the .uk server ever been in something like a fair fight, or even been on the hard side of the odds? I think not. Henning, how is "fedtspillere" translated into English? My view is that 'ganging up' on other people is merely shifting the odds in your favour. Intellingent gameplay. And I completely disagree. Ganging up is the dumb gameplay, it merely adding up numbers to gain overwhelming superiority. Brute force. Intelligent gameplay is about using what hardware you have to achieve your goals in ways that brute force never could have. The "It's not how much you have, but how you use it" approach. Maybe we should find a few more threads about this to declassify from our .uk days.

OK, I will take your post point by point. Naturally I disagree with all of it Whats the idea of winning? Thats the point of the game. Playing it safe is less interesting, but it is just a style of play theres nothing wrong with it. Realistically, its wondereful to say great players take risks, great players accomplish things against the odds. But this all depends on what you base the term 'great players' on. This is a conflict game, thus the most important deciding factor is fleet/army size. Tell me how many of the 'great players' (largest fleets/army) on any of the inselkampf servers took great risks or did things against the odds. This may be a morose viewpoint but inselkampf is about the developed long game. Is it a coincidence that these players had the biggest fleets in the game? They, unlike many morkin members did not have to resort to multing or buying catapults on ebay. Instead they bided there time which has given them the best fleets thus making them the greatest. An overwhelming majority? A guarenteed victory? Perhaps not the most interesting fight, but a desirable one nonetheless. Yes it is fantastic to achieve a victory against the odds but the really great players don't allow themselves to be put in this position. 'Having' and 'Using' are symbiotic, there is no use having one without the other. True many prosperous players only do the 'Having', but evidently, eventually only the players with a combination of these two attributes will become 'great'. Long post. It's nice to have a good debate. Sorry for ruining your thread Nemesis , maybe this topic should be continued elsewhere.

I think you're both being a bit dogmatic about this. It takes ability to build a large empire and big fleets. It also takes ability to beat a militarily stronger opponent. I tend towards the argument that the latter is a greater achievement, since empire building depends a lot on who's willing to stay on line through the night to scoop up deleted players' isles. But I don't think it's correct to assert that either style of play is better than the other. They, unlike many morkin members did not have to resort to multing Which players in Morkin do you think have used multiple accounts? Sorry for ruining your thread Nemesis , maybe this topic should be continued elsewhere. Unless Nemesis particularly objects, I don't think a little off-topic chat is necessarily a bad thing on these threads.

This kind of 'offtopic' is very desirable indeed.

Also, I wonder about how the ones who are involved in the attacks on Nemesis justifies their action. Is this just a great organised colony theft, or are you taking out a suspected multi?
If it's a colony theft, making war for profit, then where is the confrontation? It's not like there is a fighting chance, it's just pure greed.
If it's a multihunt, I look forward to seeing you being more active in that, even when there is no profit to be made. Go for Tyrant and sabby here on the .com server? OR don't you have the ability to do that?
