Just picked up Rome season II on DVD today. Any fans out there? I watched most of season 1 when it ran on a Danish Channel. I didn't really care for it, too many historical inaccuracies and too many plot holes for me really to enjoy it. I'm assuming that season 2, which haven't been aired on anything I can recieve, will be the story of the Second Triumvirate? I have a very good book about that particular time, so I'm pretty sure I'm better off without the television series.

I personally don't find it too bad. I watched both seasons over a holiday weekend with a buddy, and we sat there going onto wikipedia for every little detail - like you said, some historical inaccuracies, but considering it isn't a documentary, I was fairly impressed.
Anyhow, season 2 focuses on the Triumvirant, indeed. Octavian v. Antony v. the Senate. The intruige is increased tenfold.
I really expected that season 2 would start some years after Caesar's death, and explain what has happened since with backstory narrative of something of the like - I was thrilled to see season 2 pick up, literally, *exactly* where season 1 left off.

Considering that season 1 ended with Gaius Julius Caesar getting murdered (and not after that), they would have to start up again exactly following the assasination. Ceasar's will, leaving Octavian(us) heir gives him an outside chance in the jockeying for power, and it's not many months later he begin to recruit veterans for the First March on Rome, while Antonius, the Liberators and the remaining leaders of the Caesarian Party fight for power inside Rome. On that subject, the very good book I would like to recommend on the subject is this: Ronald Syme: The Roman Revolution ( www.amazon.com/Roman-Revolution-Ronald-Syme/dp/0192803204/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/105-5626326-6192453?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1186930158&sr=8-1)

In-laws are in town (North Carolina, from Minnesota). I'll have limited access the next 2-3 days as a result (i.e., 2 logins per day, if that). XXL has me set nicely. Just be sure to leave me some Pantheon targets, if things come to a head

I wish they had more battles shown, and more sex, and the navy too.

I have had some friendly mails with Dionysus and he doesn't seem to be in a hurry to destroy anyone right now. I would say that this will all blow over in a matter of a couple more days. It all happened between CC and Dionysus to start with so if he is willing to let it go then the tension will quickly subside to a murmer of ill will and die out.

I had absolutely ZERO pages open that had any ads on them, but somehow i was able to open a page to washingmachinepowder page advertising some powder that will miraculously fix your old machine... I have no idea how it was possible...

Spent the day on the beach, then Calamity's parents picked up the bill for a GREAT seafood dinner. I feel fat and happy. And sunburnt. I should be back in town and in my normal routine within about 16-20 hours. Fortunately, I've been able to check in - unfortunately, there are no uninhabs that have come up close enough to fit into my expansion strategy. Tom has a few more days, it appears, of holding that top ranking spot in Luxor

My partner and I host and develop the website for the local seafood festival so we got to go to the launch of their cookbook. www.thedaily.com.au/news/2007/aug/15/kaths-great-catch-chefs/

I hate seafood, anything else than fish tastes like sediments and mud. But haven't really ever eaten truly fresh seafood from any major and clean ocean. We only have the baltic sea and you know what its like with small insea with Russians and Poles (amongst others) living in the shores of it. Its fraggin wastedump for them. And the arctic ocean too, but nothing else than Norwegian farmed fish comes from there.
