Some things I've learned - apologies if you already know this
1. Any hostile fleets (even those who are not targetting you) will be displayed in the quadrant view. For each quad you have a planet in a quadrant quick select box will appear. Any that are coloured red have hostile fleet movements in them
2. Target fleets will only be intercepted if you can reach them before they reach their destination planet (pretty obviously)
3. If you can catch them on the way then you act as defenders (even if their target is unaligned to you) and therefore fire first
4. The 60% rule does not apply - anyone is fair game

Do intercepted fleets eventualy reach their destination? I'm trying a test battle, but probably didnt do it right (as usual). We know that interception takes place an hour befor the fleet arrive at its destination, What happens next? Does it carry on or does it go back home after the interception battle?

If an attack fleet has an ETA of 9 hours, what should your intercepting fleet's ETA be and for how long should the interception last?

If an attack fleet has an ETA of 9 hours, what should your intercepting fleet's ETA be and for how long should the interception last? It must be less than 9 hours and the duration of the interception should be enough to achieve your aims! (usually the destruction of the enemy ;D)

So if I send a fleet to intercept with an ETA of 7, if I put 1 tick for battle will I engage or should I put 2 ticks (7+2=9) to engage?

So if I send a fleet to intercept with an ETA of 7, if I put 1 tick for battle will I engage or should I put 2 ticks (7+2=9) to engage? My understanding is that an intercepted fleet is effectively "frozen" one tick away from destination. It remains there until either, it is free from attack or it has been destroyed. There is no way of fighting through an intercepting force without destroying it. (I think I read this on one of Raven's excerpts from Creator's hour ...so if you are confident of victory, intercept for a good few hours

Just remebered this now that I've tried using this feature. When intercepting a fleet you put the duration...yah we all knew that, but this can actually serve as a naval blockade to the planet.
Granted that if you know exactly what ships are heading to the target you can ajust a fleet to effeciently destroy the ships, but you can aslo send ships to intercept, say 24 hours, all fleets that might originate from all of the enemies planets, prior to him sending any reinforcements.
This is actualy a "naval blockade"
While some can attempt to destruct PDS and Invade, others the rest of the alliance can massivly block the planet from receiving reinforcements.
Of course in Gassages case we would need to intercept fleet from 8 or 9 planets, but if all members that dont take part in the offence send ships to intercept fleet with a long duration we can starve the bugger (plus put all matter catchers targing his planets)
A thought.
