How about this: - army bigger than 1000 soldiers can pass through location with single lord (or lord with <=50 soldiers), but with some movement penalty
- for Wise: same as above, but with greater movement penalty
- for Dragons: impassable without fight
- for strongholds of any kind: impassable without fight
IMO, with all these suggestions (not just in this thread, but in any other) implemented MMU will soon seize to be a part of LoM universe, and become something I think neither of us want. Think about it. Do you really want another common strategy game?

I'm with JY - speaking as a newbie, too many complicated rules will make it very hard to understand how to play.
Imagine you don't know anything about Midnight and especially you don't think too much about the "real" size of a square. For you it is just a square on a board. Now imagine you have carefully set up a barrier with some weak Lords. And then your opponent just walks right through it. You don't think, ah, well, that was actually 2000 Leagues and I was just one person, they went round me. You think what the blazes just happened, I was in that square!?! For me it would be extremely frustrating to have to return to a help file after every turn to figure out what on earth was going on. After all the game is going to get far more complicated anyway, once things like gold and magic are in play. You know, I've played lots of games and I still don't know what henges, caverns etc are for and that's before I've even started trying to figure out the new features! Creator, take pity on the newbies! Not too complicated please!

Yes, agree, but Keeps could still have an area of effect...

Yes, agree, but Keeps could still have an area of effect... You mean like Chernobil: if enemy's army approaches too close to the Keep, say 2 locations, it is automatically contaminated and loses 10% of its men for next 5 moves? ;D
