Oh yes. Primitive? ! ? ! ? ;D The impassability of mountains opens up a whole new dimension. The Holder of the Pass for example will be ABLE to act as Holder of the Pass. Poor Muhaha and Herath will find it harder to "jump species" too I agree, I'd say 7 hours and -4 energy. Dwarves should get a bonus to attack. Targ ride! But I don't agree with making warriors much slower than riders (Targ or any other race), I think they're fine as it is. I am assuming Targ riders get a +2 r +3 allowance at plains? Wise good. Dragons good. Skulkrin good. Dragons' balance between range and tiredness could lower a bit to prevent the situation referred by Bill (taking out every poor lonely army collector).

The size of an army should also be a facto when moving through terrain.
Alexander's army whih was the most mobile in the ancient world (before the Romans started building roads) could travel 13 miles in a day. This is approximately 4.3 leagues. (4 forward or 3 forward and one diagonal) However a small cavalry unit could travel 30-40 miles on open ground. THis would equal 10-13 squares in the midnight world.
Also the larger the army the harder to move through difficult terrain. 20,000 men battling their way through narrow forest paths or over a narrow mountain pass would be quite a feat.

All interesting points. After 0.1g I will need to go through all the threads and amalgamate all of these ideas into one document, and then see what needs doing and what can wait until after v1.0 (if I ever reach that!)

Umm... would it be ok to make a suggestion about the Wise or should I keep my mouth shut? We got sidetracked, Andrea. ;D I'd say make any suggestion you like without asking for permission - after all that's what this section of the forum is for - then leave it to JY to decide which suggestion he wishes to follow up on and which not. So fire away.

Ok, O'Brave One... You asked for it! For the Wise, instead of making them a lot stronger or a lot faster through forest why not give them the ability to alter the armies they travel with. What do I mean? Well, if anyone remembers my suggestion about Fey Lady's ability to heal armies, why not give the Wise a couple of interesting abilities. I'm not sure how hard it would be to code this. I'm not a programmer. You could give them 3 choices if they initiate combat. 1) Simply let them fight 2) Use their magic to slightly enhance their ally's Defense 3) Use their magic to slightly enhance their ally's Attack Just suggestions. If they use magic then they don't participate in combat (meaning they don't contribute to casualties). I know. Really dumb right? Must be the old age about to set it...

Why do you always say that your suggestions are dumb? They certainly are not. The Wise are due to get Magic anyway in MU, though I have not yet decided exactly how that will manifest itself. I like your ideas, they would not be too hard to implement. Other ideas may be for the Wise to cast an invisibility spell on an army, but maybe only be able to do this once per game, or all kinds of fun things Keep your ideas coming!!!

I'm going to leave dragons until last. Give evryone a chance to have a say. But if I'm right, the current thinking for dragons is that: [/li][li]They should be very powerful in combat
Up to 2x as tough as an army of 2000 men, but no more. Perhaps their strength could be proportional to the number of allies they have in the battle? [/li][li]They should still be easy enough to kill in combat though, so that they are used more as a battle decider rather than an army in their own right, except against small armies
They should run a risk of dying even against small armies, or even single lords. That's the price they have to pay for being flying keeps. [/li][li]Their range should be curtailed
Yes, please. If they are going to be both deadly and have hightened stamina, their range must come down. [/li][li]They should not tire too much over mountains (updrafts?!)
True. Large birds of prey actually prefer to fly over mountains, as they get the lift they need. Dragons would be the same. If we had water surfaces, those would be very hard for dragons to cross. Dragons aren't albatrosses. Feature creep alert!!!

ah... I apologize. I kind of do that without realizing it. Kind of programmed in me after, lets say, years of ... stuff. If you catch my meaning. From now on I'll try not to think of my ideas as stupid and perhaps I'll be a little braver about mentioning my thoughts. There have been many times I wanted to make a comment and didn't for fear of repercussions.

OK, I'll make it easy for you. Here's the dumbest one so far: All free lords to have to wear Mickey Mouse ears when in the South, or a baseball cap with a foam hammer in the north. Targ must wear pink tights. Rothrorn to eat only cheese given to him by natmus when the moon is waxing on the third wednesday of the last month of Zamzididiboo. There, there ain't nothing you can say now that will seem foolish. And if anyone repercusses (bushism against you, I shall set all their armies to utterly exhausted and cowardly. ;D
