Is everybody now producing Cats at max ...those members that aren't I think should perhaps sing out so we can organise a fund to make it so on their main island...they take a long time (14 hours or so) to build so with time running out we need to get into gear with these things so that when we light the touchpaper we get as bigger bang as poss...don't you think??

It's probably not worth getting everybody up to scratch with research etc. Spend it on cats instead--either buy from Serenity or send the materials to cat-builders.

Okay I've bought 2 from Xalthorn but he only takes 8000 gold for them. If I keep on buying them I'll be stuck with loads of Lumber and Stones. And it takes all my merchants 2 days to deliver the gold. My current lab level is 12. Is it just my lab level that I have bring up to start making my own.

2-Use central stores. I´m closest to Xalthorn. He sends me the cats I´ll dispatch it to Major who sends them to you. Your gold will do the oposite route. If either stores have the funds they can forward the resourse imediatly. In other words, if I have the gold for your cats I can pay them myself before your payment reaches me.

Plenty of room in the stores if you are filling up - my current military build up is emptying everything fast. I have a statue now, so am incresing Store capacity as we speak.

If I trade my lumber and stones for gold, it still means using my merchants and if I buy cats through central stores from Xalthorn, it's still means somebodies merchants are making the journey even if my part of it is small. What levels do I need to start making my own? Or is there anybody in ocean 15 who will sell them at the cost of the relevent materials.

Lab level 15 starts production - at 14 1/2 hours for each one! Warships need to transport, it can be a lot quicker and free up boats a lot faster by "leapfrogging" through the stores/trade routes.

I can also produce cats: 5000/2500/4000 and one is yours. I've got plenty of stones, so just gold and lumber are fine.

Bums. Wish I'd remembered about this deal. I'm wasting all of my gold on getting my cat research up to L15 so that I can start [production (I have Lab15, but no cat option appears anywher other than more reseacrhing, so I guess it's a long slog approach). Currently at Cat L5.

I can't afford any at the moment, unless you would accept lots of lumber instead of gold (?), and I am also paying for my lack of investment in merchant ships - I am building 2 now (queued behind 3 LWs), to be able to actually transport payment to wherever.

Anyway, hopefully soon I can afford to buy. I have a fleet of 85LWS and 100SWS, but nothing to pummel the walls of our foes with!

Out of interest what is the optimum number of cats to send on a raid?

You don't want so few that you do no damage or risk losing some but you dont want too many that it results in overkill.

About 15?

I'm thinking when we do go for Winter Solstice we can share our cats around so we've all got a good amount, I have 20 at the moment and will probably have plenty for my fleets and some spares, depending on what the best number to have in an attack is.

I can't access IK from here, what's the attack value of a large ship with 1 cat vs a large ship with 5 archers level 10 bows?

20 should be the minimum number when attacking for war.

Cats don't take up any archer slots on a LW, so you can use both 5 archers and a cat per LW.

Thanks, I didn't realise cats don't use up archer slots, I assumed that any warships with cats on couldn't carry anything else, good info!

Hi guys - can anyone lend me some gold (and maybe a little wood)? I have finally reached cat 10 research, and would like to be able to build at least 1 cat before tomorrow's launch, giving me 10 cats in total (the other 9 were donated).

I would need: 2000g, plus any wood (I have just enough for 1 cat, but then have no more for ongoing army build up)
