I have considered making a scenario based on Middleearth, Tolkien's of course. With contour lines made up from frozen wastes, to make it look somewhat similar.
I'm not sure I'm up to actually doing it, as it would be large...

Then you should consider converting them to a M/MU format and start figuring out lords and the like. A Middleearth scenario would be interesting, but I'm not sure it would be playable.

I'm also working on a map. Initially it was meant to be 100x80, but will probably shrink.
Have you noticed how 64x64 (almost) map is rather smallish when you walk thru plains, but appears much bigger when travelling thru mountains?

Indeed. I'm at a 66*64 or was it 63, and it absolutely feels real world.
Legend? Rek stands on the walls of Dros Delnoch, looking north to the Nadir plains? Ahead stand the hordes of Nosta Khan? Hoohoo! Viraeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!

No i meant to contribute them to you if you're intrested Ohhh. Intriguing. I'll have to think about this, as I would feel obligated to do it if you gave me the push ahead, and I'm doubtful that I have the motivation to finish it, especially as everybody has new scenarios under development. I felt completely spent when I finished that 30*30 scenario, and even that was scaled down from a more ambitious map that I abandoned. If people really can finish those big maps I'll be seriously impressed. Maybe we should scrap Middleearth and go for the Hyborian Age instead, huh?

I'll zip all the material in those folders and send it right to you if you ever consider doing it...

Middle Earth would be great - until the Tolkien estate got wind of it!

I was considering a Middle Earth scenario myself but as others have got more talent I'll leave it to them!
But I'm willing to help out if needs be, I think a playable version could be made for M/MU if you put in an even distrubition of recruits, you could have Dunlendings, Rohirrim, Men of Gondor, Mordor of course, the Elves, Dwarfs etc, maybe just have a map covering the south of ME?
Also the "Legend" scenario would be very good, a fantastic book "Druss the Legend" which was the first fantasy type book I ever read, got it free with a Spectrum adventure/wargame which was very cool!
Can the game be downloaded off the net I wonder?
Anyway, I'm wanting to crack on with my scenario, can we add lords yet? Anyone know before I pester Iggy?
;D

I've made a suggestion to J-Y which could result in having a variety of zero-height terrains, such as bodies of water, deserts, wastelands etc. That could remove the need for surrounding everything with icy wastes as well as opening up new gameplay. It would obviously need modifications to the database tables as well as the implementation of server side gfx creation via the GD library, but who knows?...
